Bilbo Posted Sunday at 15:14 Author Posted Sunday at 15:14 (edited) Another request from the website, this is the complete (8 page) Neil Stubehaus bass performance of the Wayne Shorter tune 'Palladium'. The band is called 'Karizma' and the tune is from a live recording called 'Document' that came out in 2001 (I had not heard this before the recommendation came in). Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, David Garfield on guitar and Michael Landau on keyboards. It's a tough read as the tempo is very quick and the emphasis is on the off beats so you are going to have to really concentrate. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/palladium-karizma/ Edited Sunday at 15:16 by Bilbo 2 Quote
Bilbo Posted Monday at 09:27 Author Posted Monday at 09:27 This is a superb performance from Robert Hurst. The tune is called 'Lament' and it is from the 1987 Branford Marsalis album, 'Renaissance'. I had this on CASSETTE - remember them!! The details are a revelation and spending some time with this transcription will give you material you can draw upon for the rest of your days. Mostly an easy enough read but there are some bars that will challenge the best of us. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/lament-branford-marsalis/ 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted Monday at 20:42 Author Posted Monday at 20:42 Another request, this is the complete Bruno Aguilar performance on the tune 'Dos Navegantes' from the 1994 Edu Lobo album 'Corrupião'. Nice thing and not too difficult. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/dos-navegantes-edu-lobo/ 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted Monday at 20:44 Author Posted Monday at 20:44 (edited) The website has had over 800 hits today, 200 individuals. That's not bad, is it? Does that make me an 'influencer'? 🤪 Edited Monday at 20:46 by Bilbo 1 Quote
dmccombe7 Posted yesterday at 06:47 Posted yesterday at 06:47 Certainly influenced me. I've now widened my taste in music and improved my reading skills. Dave Quote
Bilbo Posted yesterday at 10:19 Author Posted yesterday at 10:19 I am reliably informed that the bass player on the Edu Lobo track is actually Nico Assumpção not Bruno Aguilar. Will amend the website later. 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted yesterday at 17:30 Author Posted yesterday at 17:30 Over fifty years old, this is the complete Geddy Lee bass part to the first tune on the first album, Rush (1974). 'Finding My Way'. I was a massive fan for years (they lost me at 'Power Windows' but I have enjoyed a lot of what they have done since and have a massive soft spot for them) https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/finding-my-way-rush/ 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Mike Rutherford's bass part from the tune 'Mad Man Moon' from the 1976 album, 'A Trick Of The Tail'. Some tricky passages and odd time signatures. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/mad-man-moon-genesis/ 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted 27 minutes ago Author Posted 27 minutes ago (edited) Lincoln Goines through written part for the tune 'Goin' Under' from the 1999 Mike Stern album, 'Play'. Nice easy read. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/goin-under-mike-stern/ Edited 27 minutes ago by Bilbo Quote
