NOW SOLD David Gage Czech Ease Hybrid (H1), Tineo wood finish, with lightweight flight case and Mooradian soft cover.
£3500

Recommended Posts

Now sold.

David Gage Czech Ease Hybrid H1 (carved front) with Tineo wood back and sides.

Lightweight flight case (underweight at airport check-in) and Mooradian soft cover.

Virtually unused and in pretty much 'as new' condition.

I have a variety of pickups here to put on the bass. The Realist works well, but we can experiment with various styles to find the best for your ears.

I am happy to sell this bass without the flightcase, as a friend may be interested in buying it from me (but only if it's not required by the CE's new owner).

This outfit would cost more than $6200 from David Gage today. If you add shipping to the UK plus the customs and tax charges, I think you'd be talking around the same in pounds sterling. I think this instrument represents a bargain at the now reduce price of £3300.

I am selling a lot of gear at the moment to make way for a new bass purchase and to help with some home alteration costs, so there's more than the CE here to come and see. I have an Ampeg Baby Bass and various double basses on offer.

Happy to help with pick up from airport or station if you were to travel a long distance.

I am happy to discuss sending the bass to you via courier (I use a local man who specialises in transporting art works).

Please get in touch to discuss anything with me.

Roy

I too have a Czech Ease - though mine doesn't have a carved front.
They are lovely basses - so lightweight and portable for an acoustic DB. Lovely player and sound too.

I have to say though, this one looks absolutely stunning! :o

PS. Whereabouts are you based Lodekka?
Might help your sale to let people know

Thanks --- yes, it's quite striking. I'm in Edinburgh. I know! For so many folks that's a long way away, but we are well served by air and rail and I'm happy to collect from the airport or station. I sold the Kolstein yesterday, and that's what the buyer did. He flew up from Stansted in the morning and was home again that afternoon.

Oh wooow, what a beauty!

I've been lusting after one of these for years but not quite within my budget yet sadly. Planning on making a CE clone with a luthier friend however and your pictures will be an invaluable reference, thanks!

If only you were closer, I'd love to try it out. There can't be many owners in this country at all.

I remember the last one on BC a few years back never sold either.

Trouble is I think that at that price, most people who could afford one will have the means to transport a 3/4 and aren't interested. (He says, having never actually checked the excess baggage costs for an upright ;) )

EDIT - Just seen it's sold! Congrats to the new and old owners!

      Hi all,
Now fully up for sale, Part-Ex options would be a Lakland Skyline DJ5 with cash my way too, possibly a Lakland 55-60, or maybe a Precision 4 string of some description.
I love this Evolution, sounds awesome, light swamp ash body and looks great. It's a solid 9/10 for condition I'd say. A couple of small indentations, but nothing I'm able to photograph well. Stock, these basses come with Bartolini single-coils, however I've swapped those out for Bartolini dual coils that came direct from Rob Elrick.
      So spec is:
      35″ scale
      Swamp Ash Body
      8.5 Lbs (approx)
      Satin Matte Black Finish
      3-piece Quarter-Sawn Maple Neck
      Ebony Fretboard
      24 frets
      2-way adjustable truss rod
Bartolini hum cancelling Dual-coil soapbar pickups (Made in the USA)
Bartolini 3-band pre-amp w/3-way mid and active bypass (Made in the USA)
      Fully shielded control cavity
      Black Hipshot Ultra-light tuners
Black Elrick bridge – by Hipshot (Made in the USA)
Dunlop Dual Design strap buttons (Straplok compatible!) (Made in the USA)

£1550 - I'll include a Fusion Urban gig bag in excellent condition!
      £1500 - No Case
No way of shipping just at the moment, but happy to organise a socially distanced handover. As such, UK only for now.

      Gibson SB-450
Cool and rare Gibson from the '70s. Apparently less then 1.000 were made, so there aren't too many of them around.
      Pictures:

As you can see from the pictures, the bass has been used. It has a lot of user marks and finish checking all over. The bridge has been replaced (original one in poor condition is still there), as well as the truss rod cover. It should be mentioned that the plastic cover of the bridge pickup has broken at the point where the adjustment screw enters. Someone tried to melt it together again, but its still loose. I've set the hight, and left it this way.
Further this bass is in good functional condition. The neck is straight and all hardware and electronics function like they should.
This bass plays and sounds great. It has an open, clear and full punchy sound. Not what is usually expected from a Gibson. It's also a very light instrument; my kitchen scale says it's only 3,35 kilos!
      The original hardcase is included.
      Asking €1.100 (approx £975)
The bass is located in the Netherlands. Shipping is not a problem.

Looking to sell on my KK Baby Bass.
The tone is incredible from this thing and is such a joy to play, it's actually what got me into upright bass.
With the small turn of a screw at the back you can go from low down action like a fretless electric up to high up blister heaven tone zone.
The bass benefits from the newer model of bridge, and a tonal palette that can be sculpted on board from a tone knob and two screws on either side of the bridge to dial in tones from the classic Ampeg Baby Bass latin tone, to a more acoustic sound, or a more dub like thump.
Strung with Thomastik Spirocore strings and includes a soft case and rather robust stand the bass can live on.
Great shape overall, two small flakes of paint missing which I've documented in the photos.
Ideally looking for cash, but would consider a trade for a Rivoli/EB-2 style bass or a Moollon Jazz V.
Not a postage friendly instrument, but welcome to come try either at mine (TW20 0TJ) or at my studio in Battersea.
      Cheers,
      -Noah
