Rob Allen Mouse 30 Fretless (lined) - ON HOLD!
£1600

Recommended Posts

Rob Allen Mouse 30 in as new condition. I'm the original owner, and ordered the bass direct from Rob in 2009.

I listed this back in December without any joy, so have lowered the price to match what other (less spec'd) Mice have been going for on the Basschats..

  • Alder body
  • Spruce top (I believe this is the last bass Rob made with a spruce top. At the time of ordering the bass he was switching to maple for the lighter coloured tops. I loved the look of the spruce and grabbed the last piece!)
  • Birdseye maple neck
  • Goncalo Alves fretboard (with extension) and bridge
  • Protec gig bag (very sturdy)

Has only seen studio use, on just a handful of sessions, and has lived most of it's life in it's case in a smoke/pet free studio.

Located in NW6, London.

Lightweight, and sounds and plays beautifully. She's a beaut!

Collection preferred, but will post within the UK and EU if necessary (at buyers expense). Straight sale only please.

Hi, consider trades?

Has it only volume control?

Hi Auslander. I’m not considering any trades, sorry! Trying to thin the herd, as it were.

Correct : the single knob is for volume. A very simple but very effective design!

  • Thanks 1

You also have a trimpot in the back for passive tone control ;) You can regulate using a philips screwdriver in the hole of the backplate ;)

Not after any trades, as great as that xotic looks! Would prefer collection or hand delivery in or around London, due to previous nightmares with shipped instruments. May well ultimately consider shipping abroad if no bites locally.

Price drop to £1850 - grab a bargain.
I bought this last year from Goldbass via The Gallery. I really hoped my fat little fingers would get on with the beautifully shallow neck profile but sadly I am not getting the best from it.
Martin dates it at early 2000's and it is in amazing condition for a 15+ year old bass. One very small dent on the bottom of the front face - photo attached. Other than that it is immaculate.
Incredible build quality. Martin and John have an enviable ( and justified ) reputation and this one is a beaut.
      Specs:
Madrone Burl front and back, and matching peghead.
      Ash wings
Flame maple / Wenge 7 piece neck
Ebony board lined with Mahogany ( very subtle ), blue LED's on the fret lines
Bartolini MM pup with series / parallel switch
ABM piezo bridge with piezo preamp ( internal controls ) to balance output with mag pup - set and forget.
Schack 18v preamp with internal dips for BMT centres / boost, volume and blend. Tone controls work on both mag and piezo.
Gotoh tuners, dunlop strap locks. Strung with Daddario chromes.
Weight on my scales just over 8lbs
      Hiscox hard case.
Let me know if you need any more info.
Would trade for a Rob Allen 4 string fretless or other quality 4 string fretless - Sei, GB, Shuker, ACG, Sadowsky, Lull etc
      Thanks for looking.

Selling my Corvette unlined Fretless 5.
Turns out I’m not as good at fretless playing as I imagined so this just isn’t getting used. A real shame but I have my eye on something else.

Made in Germany in 2008. Bubinga body, Ovangkol neck with ebony fingerboard, with minimal markings.
Natural oil finish and carefully treated weekly with the Warwick wax. (Included in sale)
Passive electronics with volume, pick-up blend and tone controls. I was very surprised by the variety of sounds that come out of those controls! MEC dynamic correction pups.

Currently strung with Rotosound 45-130 flatwounds.
      Weight is 6kg.
Includes Warwick Rockbag, surface finishing wax and truss rod tool.

      Open to reasonable offers.

Buyer to collect from Warrington, Cheshire or can post at buyers expense.

From  one of the best luthiers in the US (there is always a waiting list for his instruments) all hand-made with love and attention to detail. This is one of his MB2 four string basses and with the built-in piezo pickup it is as close as you’ll get to a natural  sound with an electric. The addition of the active Bartolini really expands the tonal range that you can get with this guitar. And at a shade under 7 lbs, it’s also ridiculously light.
Materials: Birdseye Maple Neck, Cocobolo fretboard, Alder Body with a figured Maple top made in 2007. Unlined, but there are dots up the side of the neck making it very easy to play!
The added pickup is on it's own Bartolini Fretless voiced preamp that was kept entirely separate from the stock piezo. It's wired to work based on using a cable (not supplied, but easy to make up) that has the ring/tip wires reversed. So, you plug in a regular cable at it's a Rob Allen through and through, you plug in a "switched" cable and you have a mag pup with Volume (active/passive push/pull), Mid push/pull, and stacked bass/treble. Work was done professionally by another top US luthier Mike Lull.
As I’m writing this I’m wondering why on earth I’m selling it - it’s a fantastic guitar and I was SO excited, not to mention priveleged when I got it. I only ever used it on studio sessions where it got nothing but compliments. The truth is that I have defected to 5 string basses and can’t seem to find my way back.
There are a couple of scuffs here and there and a ding on the top of the body which I have tried to photograph, but nothing that affects the beauty and sheer tone of this wonderful instrument.
Will come well-packed in a lightweight but strong Gator case.
Shipping at cost, UK only. As usual, very happy to quickly answer any specific question or supply more pics. Thanks for looking.
