Messages not showing in message icon

A small glitch with the new server but I'm getting messages sent straight to my gmail account that are not showing in my message icon.....

That's because it's read now

So when you receive a message it's not notifying you on the site?

Test message sent to me has appeared to sort it thanks and yes, at the time it wasn’t notifying me on the site.

slightly annoying ( using iPad) is reading the ‘unread posts’ and opening a postto read the content, when I go back Unread posts it often goes right back to the top of the page again.

I realise now also that once I’ve read that post it disappears from my ‘unread posts’ page.

If that isn't what you want you could open threads in a new tab then go back to the original page and read others. Actually that's how I tend to work on desktop anyway.
