in ears

please move if its posted in the wrong section.


yesterday I bought a chord iem 16 set as a first step into seeing if I liked in ears.everything goes through the desk and we took the feed for the monitors from aux2 the drums and backing tracks sound fine but the bass sounds awful.very distorted.
so can anyone give any advice as to where im going wrong

You could be pushing a built-in limiter in the Chord which would explain the distortion especially if you have your bass proud in the mix. We get this with our Sennheiser IEM set up if we're not careful. I'd try sending less overall level down the aux out and turning up your IEM pack to compensate - it's all about gain staging :)

Make sure the pad switch on the rear is set as -12dB and as stated above, make sure the aux send from your desk is not too hot. Single driver buds aren't the best either... I'd always recommend a quad with a dual low as a minimum.
