Recommend me a PJ pickup set for smooth fretless

I have a Warmoth PJ fretted bass which is soon to be given a fretless neck.
I've never really liked the pickup combination in it - I have a Fender 'original 62' P pickup and an Allparts J bridge pickup fitted.
I'm not sure if it's a wiring issue or poorly matched pickups but these pickups don't blend well and the P pickup tends to dominate unless wound off almost completely.
It's wired VVT.

So I'm looking to replace the pups with something which allows me more control over the pups and bring the bridge pup into play more for those smooth fretless tones.

What would you suggest?

I use a set of Nordstrands on my PJ and they work very nicely. The key thing to getting decent balance across PUPs is to get a pair that are designed and built to work as a PJ pair, and to ensure that you use a circuit that facilitates this. I doubt there's much that can be done to compensate for a poorly matched pair that wouldn't involve essentially compromising the output of the P-PUP.

And yes, I'd certainly recommend John's (KiOgon's) circuits
