robw
I've got a really great MIT Yammy BB1100S but the bridge seems to be a bit cheap and flimsy. Can anyone suggest a 'drop-in' better quality replacement? I'm thinking it needs to be chunkier?!! Cheers
owd git
Although I am a learner I have a Yamaha BB414 and replaced the bridge with a Babicz Fc bridge perfect fit. My friend has played it and says its superb.
BanditSid
I gigged my BB1100S for quite a few years on the standard bridge and, like you, thought it needed upgrading - unfortunately it didn't make any discernible difference to the tone or playability of the bass so I changed it back. RandomBass
My BB414 has a Gotoh 201 bridge which does the job nicely.

robw
Thanks guys - will look at the Babicz and the Gotoh but also hearing what you are saying BanditSid!
stevie
The jury is out about whether a replacement bridge will improve your tone. However, I have an 1100S and have tried most of the available bridge options, from a no-name slightly better quality bridge to a Gotoh 201, to a Badass, to a Hipshot and a Schaller 3D-4. From an overall quality, convenience, features, adjustment point of view, the Schaller wins. It also looks really nice on the bass. My second choice would be the Gotoh, which is also cheaper of course, but I think the Schaller is worth the extra.
