Didcot, info wanted

I know there are people here from South Oxfordshire, have any of you played at The Wheatsheaf in Didcot? We are there this Saturday (last minute booking) and it would help to know how big the place is, as we have two sets of backline & PA, one small and the other larger.

Any ideas which would be more appropriate? It's not a modular system, it's one or the other.

Thanks :)

I did a gig in Didcot Working Men's Club about 8 years ago. We were on a small stage near at the back near the exit to the car-park. At half-time one of the very pi$$ed punters only just made it out of the door before he threw up. The gentle breeze wafting in from the door blew the smell straight at me all through the second half of the gig. :(

Sorry, can't help you about the Wheatsheaf.

EDIT : It was a serious suggestion, the pub can give you an idea of capacity, room size, your available set-up space, after all, it's their venue & in their interests to help when reasonable questions are asked.........

Well yes, the booking etc has been made direct by the pub but I reckon that anyone who has played there will have more idea about the amount of gear required than the pub who just see boxes that emit noise!

I know a few bods in Didcot, I'll give them a call later & ask... during the meanwhilst you could drop MoonBaseAlpha a PM - he's a local.

***EDIT***

Based on a comparison with one of the other pubs in Didcot (the Prince of Wales), the Lounge Bar area is roughly 25' x 40' - maybe a shade bigger, so I'd suggest that 'small' would be the better option.

From memory, if they've stuck you in the tiny Saloon Bar, you'd need a 'micro' option.
