Connecting 2 basses in one amp

Hey guys, is it ok to plug 2 basses in an amp with passive and active inputs but only one channel?

Depends on the design of the amp and whether you are intending to thrash the proverbial out of it.

Could be tricky setting the input gain too.

are you wanting to run both basses at the same time or are you going to be swapping from one bass to the other?

if the amp has seperate level controls for each input then running 2 basses at once should be fine, if there is just a single input level then you are likely to hit problems.

if you want to switch between 2 basses then get an A/B switching pedal, they're fairly cheap and some of them have seperate volume contols for each instrument so that you don't get huge differences in the volumes when you switch.

I use a cheap Behringer AB100 pedal, does just what you want, I use it to keep my upright and an electric bass connected, hit the pedal to swap instruments and it has a level knob for each input
