alyctes Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) SOLD PENDING THE USUAL Here's a project (or two) for someone. For sale is a pair of metallic blue OLP licensed Stingray copies; one defretted, one not; both with issues. I was going to sort this lot out into a a single bass with a choice of fretted and defretted neck; but I haven't got time, and I need the space. I bought the defretted OLP a while back from a BCer. It plays nicely and sounds good, and I don't mind the thick neck on a defret. As the pictures show, there are several areas of damage to the body. The edges have been sanded in several places in preparation for a refin. But there is a bad bump on the edge; the wood is crushed and would probably need a replacement block glued in, then carved and sanded to match the body contour. (I believe this is called a "Dutchman"?). I don't know, maybe it could be done with filler? Original sale threads here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2062524 and here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2053137. No, I don't know why there were two threads either. Doing that sort of woodwork is beyond me, so I picked up a fretted OLP in the same colour (matching headstock!) to build a single good bass with a choice of necks. The fretted one has lots of minor surface damage, and the electrics don't work. So, if you know your way around the electrics of OLPs, and you don't mind a few scratches, this might be an interesting project. £120 shipped for the pair (in the UK; if outside the UK, please PM and we will discuss). I would rather not split them. They will be shipped with the necks removed and without strings. I could use the money, but trades considered.
