I always fancied the idea of a noodle in the higher range - I've no doubt the bass itself is up to it - but simply haven't had a set of strings to try it out. It doesn't help that it's been so damn handy for ad-hoc rehearsals in singers' kitchens and the like. (with titchy amp kicked under the chair!) Although this does remind me that as I no longer have the said titchy amp, I've got no excuse not to try it high-up now. Duh! Anyone have any string recommendations? (cheap would be good.) [/quote] For a guitar scale length instrument like yours any heavy guitar strings with a wound G should be fine. I used some by Infeld 11-52 which had a 20 wound G. [/quote] I wanted to say that you were right that piccolo basses are considered basses of their own class, ( not just the "mini me" of real basses) , but also that if you want to order one you will be charged full price. Vinny Posted October 22, 2014 Share Posted October 22, 2014 Did a bit of a 'speriment today - tuned the li'l P up to BEAD on the strings it has on, without a setup, and it was rather fun (though the action was a tad(!) high).
