[/quote] However (ha,ha,ha)... Sorry english is not my mother tongue, in case of a flat EQ situation, you will hear the exact sound your bass will give thru the amplified system. If your bass is well balanced and well set up ( of course, after looking to his very good site, I am pretty sure that Doddy's basses are set more than perfect) there is no specific need to correct its sound with an EQ boost or scoop. But there are outhere some musical genres or playing situations that purely ask for some EQ tweaking regardless of the bass guitar quality or setup like: metal, reggae or the historic Jaco or Mick Karn sound. Best

When I was young...35years ago, I was (and still am a Kiss fan) and I remember that on the cover of their "Alive" double album was written something like: "Kiss plays Pearl drums and Gibson guitars and bass coz they want the best" So forget Cort and look for the original Kiss stuff...Gibson. All others are "Barbie marketed stuff to enjoy in Disneyland" but far, far away from the original Gene Simmons' huge bass sound. Best

However, playing with a flat eq needs first the bass guitar to be well balanced and set up. In case of heavy metal music scooping some middle helps a lot. The Ibanez "pink" Steve Vai plectrum is also my favorite. Best

Looking to a sister highly scientific thread about the importance (or not) of the wood in construction of a bass I would say that green wood is not the best for basses but...I recently purchased the new Bonsai Bass and now I really begin to understand and I am doing now my best to play it while it gets greener. Just from time to time I add some water... I hope sooner I will have a double neck. ":0) Best

I had a '90 Thumb 5 NT fretted and despite a very good sound I sold it for the following reasons: - it was definetly neck diving - it was much to heavy for my back - the neck construction was very thick even if the string spacing was 17.5mm. However the sound and overall building and finishing quality was pretty good. The good think for me it was that this specific bass made me get interested in higher end luthier's basses like Smith, Fodera, Tobias, etc. Best

Becsuse I like Fender as I like Harleys and Ampeg. But they shifted from doing honest basses to a fast food style brand. I know there is an army of Fender die hard fans overthere that are ready to get extatic on a chinese made Jazz Bass but it's just not me. If you don't want to hear critics... Than play some Custom Shop Fenders and maybe you'll feel the difference and you'll become more critic in the same time. Best

Generaly for the things that are not to my liking I consider they are not ok or they suck. Except the CS Fenders the others are not ok but marketing oriented. For the Mexican, chinese or North Pole made ones...they just suck. Best
