Recently picked up a very sorry looking 231 (as marked on back of headstock). Can't find any info on Hofner's site or on Steve Russell's vintage site. Can anyone shed any light and if I post some pics could anyone offer a value (if any!!) Cheers folks and regards.

The number stamped on rear of headstock is very likely to be a serial number, not a model number. Post a few pics (body, front and back, headstock, front and back, full face..?) and we'll see what we can come up with...

Early 60s by the look of it, very similar to this - http://www.daydreamg...FNER+SOLID+BASS

Or a single pickup version of this - http://www.vintageho...hof/myhof1.html

The plain 'diamond' pickup (without screws/staples) is quite unusual I believe

Thanks ikay - the height-adjustable bridge is "loose" so getting the scale just so isnt plain sailing. Out with the metal ruler measure to the twelth fret and position the same distance again with a slight twist if Im not mistaken!!!
