Fender '75 RI Refinish

So, this is kind of like a NBD for me! I asked our very own Bassdoc (Howard!) to refinish my '75 RI in Lake Placid Blue nitrocellulose with a matching headstock. It was originally the natural ash body which I initially liked but after some GAS induced googling, I spotted a few LPB jazzes with rosewood block/bound necks and fell in love! It's my favourite bass to play by far and I felt the classic '75 RI look was too boring alongside my two black basses lol.

So off it went for the refin and what a stunning job it is!

I'm so pleased with the outcome. He might be a master of the scratchplate but he's got plenty of other tricks up his sleevies!

That looks fabulous! Well done all involved.

Fender Japan do a 75RI like this, but they call the colour Old Lake Placid Blue - it's a shade or two darker than what you have, and I have serious GAS for one - with a pearloid scratchplate to match the block inlays. There were good and (still) valid reason for moving on my 75RI, but I do miss that bass.

Thanks all...

In response to the colour thing, it's actually darker than the full bass shot (the light makes the colour look more vivid!). It's closer to the blue in the body shot. I'll slam a link to the Facebook album with the bigger, hi-res photos later today :)

Edit: link to pics on facebook now added!
