Most of the Warwick's I've tried have quite skinny jazz bass like necks which I don't mind but I'd rather a more Precision type width if possible. Reading the neck dimensions on the Warwick site, if I was looking for a 44mm "special" nut width would I have to go for a custom build? [/quote] Try a 4 string BO model after the Millennium. Some of them, particularly Corvettes, seem to have massive baseball bat necks. That said, I thought the 'Broad Neck' on my 2003 Thumb BO would feel massive. It's actually very manageable because it's flattened across the back in a way that won't be unfamiliar to Yamaha TRB owners. Quite a surprise! It's still a handful, though a pleasingly usable one! LeftyJ Posted September 21, 2012 Share Posted September 21, 2012 I agree! Just got a 2002 Streamer LX5 and it's one of them baseball bat affairs, but very manageable indeed. Funny you should mention the TRB, I have owned two TRB5II's and the profile of the rear is indeed somewhat similar. The Warwick is thicker though, somewhat more 'square' if you know what I mean. But what i know : these neck changes happened much after Wood changes, Wenge to Ovangkol in late 90's. I used to own a Thumb necktrough 4 string, beautiful instrument but the neck was to round and thin for me. When i found a 5 string Thumb it was perfect for me, a slim D shape. I only kept this one. Warwick_Official Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 We changed back to the slim neck from the chunky neck in late 2009/ early 2010. We now offer 3 neck profiles on 4 and 5 string basses, and a 4th option (Broadneck) on 5 and 6 string basses. The diagram above is not current.
