1980's Yamaha BB1600 Fretless

Hi All,

Now I've got my Fender Jazz fretless, I've hardly been using this so it's up for sale.
It's a wine red sunburst Yamaha BB1600 Fretless which the previous owner replaced with Bartolini pickups. (I've also got the original ones as well)
I'm not sure of it's exact year of manufacture but I think the previous owner said it was 1984' ish. As you can see, it was originally purchased from the Basscentre in London.
I would say that the condition of the bass is good and in the photos, I've tried to capture the light buckle rash on the back of the body and small ding on the front. There is also a small ding on the underside of the body. (It could probably do with a new set of strings aswell!)
It doesn't look like there are that many of these around as I've been trying to find a suitable price for it without much luck. I paid approx. £350 for it when I bought it but I'm open to offers. It also comes with a hard case ( which has seen a bit of action but works).
Cheers,
Jim

How's it going? Tallying the marks on the BB1600 fretless with Bartolinis I picked up from Wunjo recently, I seem to have this bass! With new strings and a little attention paid to the action it's a really magical instrument now. Great to find the previous owner.

Best

Dave

They certainly knew how to make a solid bass in the 80's.
Plus, forgot to mention that it's a lined neck with pearl inlays.
Cheers,

Welcome to the forum! :)

That's one of the great things about this place - plenty of people have discovered (and even bought back!) old basses they once owned. It's nice for the current owner to find out a bit of it's history as well.
