I can vouch for the Thumbs prior to 2000 due to playing a couple from last 3 years, and also playing a few mid to late 90's Thumb's also. The neck is much more agile and ohhhh so much smoother due to it being all Wenge as opposed to the chunkier Ovangkol Neck and Wenge Finger-Board on the newer models. And there IS a difference in tone, an all wenge neck brings much more brightness and warmth out of the overall tone whereas an Ovangkol neck makes it sound much darker yet still retaining that Warwick growl.
