This is a Kawai 100P analogue synthesizer. Late 1970s with 32 preset voices. It is monophonic and has a lovely glissando / portamento control for added expression.
It’s a good exmple of the first generation of ‘touch sensitive’ keyboards, this technology was later adopted by other manufacturers. This touch sensitivity means that effects can be added (such as pitch bend, vibrato, brilliance etc…) can be added single-handedly whilst playing, which yields some very good sounds.
The Kawai 100P will also hold a single note indefinitely, and has a ‘repeat function’ to allow for pulsing basslines to be created with one finger.
This particular model has had the main PCB recapped to improve tuning stability. The keyboard still needs some fine-tuning ( there are 4 trim pots on the main board which need adjusting, but it shouldn’t require any more soldering), but unfortunately at the moment I simply don’t have the time to do this. That said, these pots are easily accessible by removing two scres from the main case.
The slider cap is missing from the main volume control and the case has a few scuffs on the corners, but other than that it’s in good nick considering its age.
Up for sale again as the original deal fell through.
£75 for a quick sale? Probably best for the buyer to collect as it's built like a tank, and weighs about the same. ;)
