Tom Mov Lee Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Ok, so I'm building a bass cab with a friend of mine, and at first the speakers are going to be cheap as chips, and I'm expecting to upgrade when I have more money. I'm making a 2x10 and a 1x15. Ok, so, the head that I am thinking of buying states that I can use 2 cabs if they are both 8 ohm, and not one 8ohm and one 4ohm. So, my first question is, if I buy 2x celestion BL10-100 at 8 ohms for the 2x10, will that be okay to use with a 15" speaker at 8ohms? The reason I ask is, I really know nothing about speakers and I was worried that the ohms in each speaker add together (e.g. 2x10" speakers at 8 ohm each making a 16ohm cab?) There are around 15 specs to match to the cab, so when you upgrade, its time to totally modify the cab to match. Best bet is to make the cab for the planned upgrade speaker, then bodge in the cheap one and plug up ports till it works. Also, don't build a 15 and a 2x10, make a pair of either. Get the specs of the drivers that you want to have in the cab & make the cabs to suit them & make either 2 1x15s or 2 2x10s (mixing driver sizes gives unpredictable results).
