seanbarnes Posted July 3, 2011 Share Posted July 3, 2011 i have been playing bass for only a short time now and i am just about to start playing with a band. i am needing a head and i am a bit stuck as i know very little about that area. I have looked at orange tiny terrors and hartke HA3500. i was wondering if there is anything i should specifically look out for. i dont really know if this will have much relevance but the band is a NYC hardcore band. What cab (or cabs...) will you be driving (and what impedance...)? What size venues will you be playing (rehearsal room..? studio..? pubs'n'clubs..? halls with FOH PA..?)? Without this, I'll just be guessing, but the Hartke HA3500 is a well-known workhorse, and very flexible. The Orange will do a good job in its ballpark, but its qualities are also its limitations. Sibob Posted July 3, 2011 Share Posted July 3, 2011 I'd also recommend the Orange Terror, amazing little amp...although the EQ isn't versatile, it just basically tweaks the amp sound...rather than give you plenty of different sounds. Change the valves though, get a cleaner sound from better tubes so you have more usable volume....and dirt can come from pedals.
