Hi Folks,

Thanks for taking the time to read my topic.
I wanted to know if any of you bassheads out there could tell me if my fender was built in the u.s.a or Japan?
I am aware this may seem a pretty dumb question, but I acquired the bass second hand and never really got to the bottom of its true identity. It certainly plays great and wondered if anyone could tell me a little bit about it?

Many thanks,

Liam.

Impossible to tell much from those pics

I can see it has reverse tuner though.

It *looks like* a MIA '62 reissue, or maybe an early or later non-export Japanese one, but I wouldn't express too strong an opinion without seeing a pic of the serial no. and any markings that are exposed when the neck is taken off.

Pinned shafts makes me think USA 62 reissue too. Japanese ones didn't come with the pickup covers I think and if that's the original case then it makes it much more likely.
