Just been reading my Feb issue of Performing Musician ( brilliant mag by the way ) and there is a cracking review of Suzuki budget bass's ( P and J copies )

Must be honest and say that I did check the cover to check it wasn't an early version of the April 1st edition as I was not aware the Suzuki made guitars.

Anyone tried or own one ??

I've no idea where these are made (their website's here) but historically there were two Suzukis manufacturing musical instruments, neither of whom seem to be connected with the people who make GSX-R750s & Hayabusas.

Both companies started out in the 19th century, making violins - Kiso Suzuki Violin, and Nagoya Suzuki. I think the founders of the companies were related. Anyway, back in the 70s/80s one or other of 'em made stuff like this:

Anyway, I'll keep an eye open for a bass version. :)

I have a Suzuki Folk Acoustic Guitar (6-string)

It's a beauty, lovely tone/action - bought it off a mate who wanted a flashy round back
electro-acoustic and who now deeply regrets it.

Paper label inside body reads

"Established 1887
Nagoya
Suzuki
w-120vsc(serial number)
Suzuki Violin Co. Ltd.
Nagoya.Japan."

Best 75 quid i ever spent!
