Shockwave
Hey guys. Just bought a J-Retro Deluxe for my USA Deluxe Jazz bass, replacing the stock pre-amp. I will be running the J-retro on an 18volt circuit. I understand its probably a far better pre-amp. But why? What changes should i expect? Anybody with previous experience installing it into a USA jazz deluxe got any tips and came up against any problems? Its a J-Retro 01 Jazz Deluxe preamp. Cheers! Rob . JTUK
I think they have got the frequencies right. You'll never use all that boost, or even the extremes of the mid range sweep...so it can be powerful but it has great sounds which cut through but not over-power, as, say, a MM can...and even if you ran them both wide open would never be as harsh. In fact, I would say it is a smoother more flexible MM-like pre, but will sound way better with J pickups... That is what I would expect..and I run two of them.
