This is sorta off topic but not.... :) for me it's bass related!

I'm teaching myself bass, in a fashion, by using some great lessons and help available from this excellent site and others but recently I'm having problems downloading stuff, seems to take ages, youtube is also real slow which is pain too and when I tried to have a look at the Incognito thread the Beeb' thru me out as I'm so slow

I did some speed tests using BBC and a consumer site test and got around 490 Kbps download and 368 Kbps upload...I'm on BT internet homehub

can anyone comment?

The BT Home Hub is notorious for it's lack of performance. Just Google 'BT Home Hub issue' That would be my starting point.

Download & archive videos onto the hard drive via a download manager which supports the resumption of downloads after dropped connections?

Try different DNS settings? (Also make sure that the DNS settings you're currently using haven't been hijacked.)

Here's a thread on the DNS and other issues which can imperil network security and degrade performance.

Which OS version are you using?
