1. [s]£250[/s] [s]£200[/s] £185 Delivered For sale is a Spector Q4 Pro (i think). I got this second hand, I'm not 100% sure what the exact model is. It's Korean made if that helps anyone. It plays and sounds really nice and has had a full setup with new strings. Its in good condition, with some scratches on the back of the body, the front is totally fine. There are a few small dents on the neck but I'm sure they would even come out with a bit of a sand. The worst dents are shown in the picture below. This does not affect it, it's purely cosmetic. You can only feel a few when playing it. The specs are; Basswood body with quilted maple top 3 piece maple neck with rosewood fingerboard EMG HZ Pickups with BTS active circuit. The controls are Vol, Vol, Bass, Treble boost and cut. I'm selling as I don't really play this bass anymore. Collection is welcome from Manchester if collected I will take £10 off the price. It also comes with a decent quality soft case. Anyone is also welcome to come and try it out. Price drop: £185 including delivery with the UK. Any questions, just get in touch. 2. Im surprised you've had no takers. I love these! I would love one, but I only have a Corvette std 4 string (1998) to trade.
3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
4. I firstly sand up to 800 grit. Them with tru-oil, I use a lint free rag or an old white t-shirt thats been washed quite a few times. It depends what finish you want, I've only ever done a satin finish thats what was done on this one. I apply lots of light layers and build it up, don't be tempted to put it on too thick. Depending on what wood it is depends on how long it takes to fill the pores, but I did it on swamp ash and it didn't take too long. Also unlike a lacquer finish that blends together, tru-oil builds up on top of each other. Then you just keep rubbing it in until it starts to feel like its drying and you get some resistance. If the finish is smooth you can just keep going but some people go over it with some steel wool every 4 or 5 coats, but make sure you get rid of any steel wool fibres before you apply the next coat. I was scared of it at first but its easy to work with, so just give it a go and you'll find what suits you best. A little tip I was told, pierce a hole in the top seal and store it upside down. This stops the air from getting to the oil it can get a film on the top. I hop that helps.
5. The black was water based dye from Rothko and Frost. This is the one; http://www.rothkoandfrost.com/wood-stain-water-based-black/ It says its out of stock, but I got a custom colour made by them they were very helpful and only took like 5 days to mix and delivered to me, so worth dropping them and email. This was my first go at dyes, hence why the first didn't work out. My only tips really are to test on a scrap piece first and when you're happy with it, stop. It's very easy to go too far. There are loads of videos on using dye on Youtube. This video helped me with this one and he has loads of videos on different finishes that are also very helpful. On a side note, I did a gig at Bangor City Football Club recently. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u49jCIRNnmk
6.
That looks amazing, good work!
Thanks, but what do you think of the bass?
7.
Looks absolutely lovely.
Thanks. It's that good even my girlfriend has started playing bass! 8. Thanks for the kind words everyone:) Bassfunk plays bass in a band that I work with quite a bit so he might get to play it if he's lucky. This is my third Warmoth, I should really do some sound clips of them all!
9.
Oh..
Thanks, glad you like it.
10. A little update. I got an East Mid sweep preamp off here from 'Mcnach' who was extremely helpful, and made sure it would fit before I bought it. Well thats been fitted with a little head scratching and a few emails to John East who drew me up a diagram so I can use it with my Vol/Bal/Tone setup. Top marks for customer service, he was so helpful and extremely helpful! And now its pretty much complete, and the it sound awesome and feels so smooth to play. I'll be taking some better photos, but here are a couple of phone pics. 11. I got an East mid sweep from Jose and he was extremely helpful and he got it in the post very quickly. Great guy to deal with. Thanks
12. Thanks, I'm starting to put it together now. Yea thats how it comes out when I do it, but I have seen some people apply like 25 coats then wet sand, then buff to a gloss. I like the satin look, as it still gives it a raw wood kind of look to it.
13.
That looks great. I agree with blablas about more shine. This is not doing my Warmoth GAS any good...
Haha, Thanks. I'm really pleased with it. To be honest, since this first coat, I've done about 6 coats and its got a bit more of a shine now. Not quite a gloss, but has a bit of a shine and I'm not sure I want a full gloss finish.
14. Great build and it looks top. I think you're right to keep the blue, it's a little different, and nothing nicer than a slightly beaten up P bass. I built my first jazz the same way a few years ago, I'm on number 5 now. The current one is the Warmoth flame maple jazz that I'm really happy with.
15.
Looking good! Now it needs more shine.

Beautiful!
Thanks guys. I may buff the tru oil to a shine but I may leave it with the standard satin sheen, so it matches the finish on the neck.
16.
I look forward to seeing the photos - I think it's going to look tremendous
Thanks. This is after 1 coat of tru oil. Very happy with it! Oh and the new pots and control plate came today. 17. Thanks for the advice. I did a test where the dye had been on for about an hour, And that didn't lift the dye, and my body has had it's dye ok for at least 24 hours. I have applied the first layer of tru oil and the dye hasn't moved at all! It looks ace! Keep your eyes peeled for photos, didn't get a chance to take any, had to rush out. Oh I've also orders some new pots etc for it, I'm going to try a passive Vol-Bal-Tone-series/parallel switch, then a side mounted jack.
18. The Plastic Coating worked and I had good results, I just wasn't happy with the dye finish I did. I'm much happier with the new finish. Yea, I read up a lot on what works with what, but its always best to test anyway. I've been told tru oil over dye usually causes it to run, but I will be testing it first. I may have to resort to spray cans if not. I've done a few spray can finishes with good results, so I'm ok with that. Oh and thanks for the inspiration, thats a lovely looking bass.
19. I finally bit the bullet and went for a sanded back black dye finish on my jazz. I will be leaving the back natural and applying true oil over the hold body. What do you think? 20.
Huh, better than ABM then. I had a missing saddle piece in a bridge and not only did they want money for it (which I was more than prepared to pay) they wanted twice again for postage. When I proposed that they do what your friends at Glockenklang do and tape this tiny piece to a letter, they stubbornly and rather tersely refused. So I bought a single no-name monorail bridge off eBay, took the saddle (which fitted perfectly) and binned the rest. Wasteful, but job done. Was a little miffed at the inflexibility.
Thats outrageous! Lack of customer service is my pet hate, especially when you go into someones shop and they seem to lack very basic customer service or are just simply rude. The main one I don't get is when its clearly a independent business and the stuff they sell isn't that cheap, and you don't even get a simple hello. Sorry, rant over. It just really winds me up. Glad you got it sorted though.
21. You certainly did, and I was wrong to ever question it.
22. I got a letter from Germany this morning....Glockenklang have sent me the nuts and washers completely free of charge...now thats good service. Although I can't actually fit this yet, as the bass isn't built yet but I thought this would take longer to get sorted.
23. Ok, I take it back, they've said they are going to send me some. I just home that they actually do it and I don't have to pester them.
24. Hello, Up for sale is a very nice P bass neck I bought off here. I was originally going to use it on a build but have decided to go another route so I no longer need this neck. This neck is in excellent condition. The only real issue is that it has had two different types of tuners fitted before I got it. I would recommend fitting Wilkinson P/J bass tuners though as these are what had been fitted by previous owner and the tuner holes are now a perfect size for them (18.5mm diameter), and the holes are pre-drilled for you to just screw them straight on (the tuner base plates cover up the other holes present). The neck holes may or may not line up so, so just be aware that you may need to plug and/or re drill the holes, but the nut us slotted so other than that its ready to go. The rest of the neck is immaculate and has hardly been played. Nut width: 41mm Heel width at widest point: 63mm Price: £75 Delivered within UK.
