1. How about this from one of the masters! It has everything feel, melody, technique structure. Solo starts at 1.50. But again best listening to all of it!

  2. There's just too many but for now i'm going for this. I just love how aggressive and how much fire Eddie Van Halen has. Especially on the first two albums.

At about 2.05, but best listen to it all!

  3. So something like this then,

http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_bb410t.htm,(I'm not thinking of buying it!)

even tho it seems quite impressive, decent frequency response, 500w,
does it mean it will be prob be hiding something? For instance it just saying 102db for Spl won't mean anything and it could perform badly at different points. I mean the price is obviously a giveaway, but that will be more than just build quality, right?

First you have to find them; AFAIK no one reveals them. The official reasons why are 'we don't want to confuse players with information they might not understand (calling you stupid they are) and 'people buy our cabs based on how they sound, not how they chart'. But they don't explain how people are supposed to know how they sound before they buy them if they can't try them first. The real reason for there being no charts is either they don't want you to see them, or they don't have any. Or both.

    thanks

If you're looking for a GK 2x12, you'd be better spending a little extra on the Neo 212-II. Why not a 2x10?
dunno, as you've probably guessed don't know much about this side. I got a 400w marshall head and a Peavey 2x10 and a 1x15 when i was 18, about 15yrs ago and have always used that so never looked into the tech side. Just concentrated on playing. Now its time for new stuff and i know bugger all

The low E on the bass is @ 41hz, the low B on a 5 is @31hz. 52hz is @ Ab. However, the harmonics a note produces are what we often hear & usually an octave up, but trick our mind into thinking it's the root note.
The lower hz a cab can produce though = trouser flapping. B)

Edited to say, 52hz sounds like it might be a guitar cab?
i use a 5 string so a 52 hz cab would be no good then. I'm looking at a number of different cabs and just trying to research them. The one at 52hz is a Gallien Krueger 212MBE 8 Ohm.

    Sorry, couldn't resist. :P

It really depends on what the cab is doing with the 14hz & what it does with it at volume.
Just say you have the 52hz one. Does that mean it is less responsive at low frequency? And is 52hz a poor rating?!

Its the biggest number, so the most impressive. The fact you consider it when thinking of buying an amp is all of the reason.

The important information is a maximum SPL chart, and an SPL at a given input voltage chart, so you can see if it goes as high and low, and in the middle as you want with the amount of power you have. The generalised versions of these are the sensitivity rating, which tells you how loud, and the min/max frequency range, but both those are a bit fiddly and only useful for comparing cabs among one manufacturer, since they all fiddle them in different ways. The charts are harder to fiddle without it being obvious. Lots of manufacturers don't supply them, but plenty of people pay money without knowing what they are getting so it works fine for them.

So what region should you be looking for in SPL charts

  9. As a couple of you may know. I've been pecking heads about ohmage and wattage due to my vast ignorance in all things technical. I've actually learned a little and quite enjoyed it. So i wonder if any of you could give me your opinions on what the pros and cons are between 2x12 cabs and 4x10's, if any!

    cheers

Better ignoring watt rating because they don't mean anything. You 500w cabs might be quieter with the amp output than the 300w ones, so you'd have to put more into them anyway, and they might fart out at 100w whilst the 300w rating ones might fart out at 150w. Need to look at the important info, not the meaningless wattage.
Right confused again! What do they put the watt rating on for? and what is the important information? That's a lot of What watts!

  11.
Only 150 makes clean sound, any more makes farting noises. The 300w cab rating is the melting power, farting comes around a quarter to a half of that, unless you have fancy speakers (like a woofer/midrange cab).
So in the situation i'm talking about would i be better getting to 500w cabs then?

  12. Hi guys, could you check out my bands new tune. It's called '1 out of 10'. Just have a listen and let us know what you think. cheers.

  13. I think its just takes time. I started playing 5-string a year after i started playing. It took about 5 days of solid practise to get kind of used to it. There was still the occasional mistake. However, been playing 17 yrs now mainly 5 string and i don't feel any difference when swapping between 4 and 5. I'm not saying it for a lame show off, it just illustrates my point of it taking time.

  14. Can anyone give me a bit of advice on any of the following pedals

    1) Behringer V-Tone Bass BDI21
    2) HartkeBassAttackVXL
    3) Eden WTDI Direct Box/Preamp

    Thanks a lot!

  15. As far as influences, its the boring obvious answers John Paul Jones, Jaco, Stu Hamm. But what made me decide to start playing bass was 'Right Next Door to Hell' by GnR. I just heard that noise at the begining and went 'What the f*** was that' asked my mate, he told me, so i got my dad to buy me a bass. To this day i still love listening to duff. I like the simple melodic boomy rock groovy playing.

BRIAN: Huh. All right. I'll give you ten.

HARRY THE HAGGLER: That's more like it. Ten?! Are you trying to insult me?! Me, with a poor dying grandmother?! Ten?!

BRIAN: All right. I'll give you eleven.

HARRY THE HAGGLER: Now you're gettin' it. Eleven?! Did I hear you right?! Eleven?! This cost me twelve. You want to ruin me?!
Six for that? you must be mad!
