Like it. Good sh*t! The band nail it! The singer has a little to much Jay Kay inflection for my taste. But jay Kays are probably someone from the 70's> He's pretty good tho! there is a touch of Bill Withers in there too! nice bass playing.

Just thought i post this track. Please could you give thoughts on anything. i.e quality of song, playing, recording. We produced it ourselves as a band. CRANK.

I recently found all the music i recorded at music college back in the 1990's. Unfortunately its all on DAT. I'm looking to buy a DAt player (possibly portable) on the cheap. Anyone got one or know where to get one.

As opposed to the imaginary world! I think both are of equal importance. You won't be able to do much gigging in the 'real world' if you've never done any practising in your bedroom.

Whilst my kid was in the womb i played him Mozart. Since he was born i played music to him everyday from fleetwood mac to Holst to Guns n roses. He's now nearly two. He loves music and has definite ability. He sings along to the bee gees, dances to fatboy slim. Listens intently to the planet suite by Holst and the Rite of Spring by Stravinsky. He picks up most tunes after a couple of listens and sings bits. And loves bashing my guitar or keyboard. So i 'd say it definitely helps.

Not even that great technically. Mainly clicks. No musical invention. Also the drummer is turd!

Why one over the other. Have both, like i do. Much better!

Maybe its because of the Elite clique!
Thats why i hardly bother anymore! Not that i'm an experienced, interesting poster or anything!
Or a girl for that matter!

Thats the most confusing thing i've ever read. I've got a degree in music and that almost made me unlearn music!

I think too many bands do this.



I've done it myself in bands. scrapping tunes because of a hint of another famous tune. Its a waste of time. As long as it is a direct intentional rip off and it doesn't sound exact, then there is no problem.

I think copyright is one note in every six has to be different for it to be legal. And you can't copyright chord sequences, so there will be no suing.

I do both. In two originals and one covers. Cos i enjoy both. Why limit yourself. I like whiskey and beer, so do both. I like blonds, i like brunettes so i do both. I like rock i like jazz etc, etc.

What's the point of just playing in an originals band?

Off subject. But why tablature disapproval. Its one of the oldest forms of written music. Its like disapproving of latin. Ain't saying this cos can't read music, oh yeah and not being arsey, just curious!

That No.5 is spot on. When i was young i asked a drummer who had a massive kit why did he mainly set up his kit as 4 piece and not 6 or 7. He said " if ya can't rock a 4 piece pal, you ain't got a chance rocking a bigger kit". That stuck with me for bass

I know all the theory on there but will prob get it just to see his application and technique exercises. Looks Mint

They will do the job perfect. There are also a hell of a lot of 300w combo's up at the mo (Trace & Ashdown) and in most cases I honestly beleive thats enough power to fill move venues unless you are playing big 2000 capacity clubs.[/quote]

You're disregarding the "Can't be arsed carting my rig about" bit. At the volume we will play at when just using vocal PA. With nowt being miked up. I would like a combo that would do that job. Done it in the past, worked fine.

Is it me or are there never any decent combos for sale on here! Just Rigs and cabs. I've got a rig. What i need is a decent combo for playing pubs with just backline and vocal PA. Can't be arsed carting my rig about!

I've not limited myself to stuff that's outside my comfort zone as I've done some singer songwriter stuff which was great and I certainly was playing very laid back. I thought that was fantastic fun. Whilst I think, say Tool are geniuses, I'm not entirely sure if I'd enjoy playing bass for them with all that unison riffing. Whilst that's probably an example that wouldn't be true if put to the test, I'm just trying to illustrate a point. If I didn't enjoy playing in a band or it's material, I just wouldn't do it. Just as paradoxically, just because I like a band's music doesn't mean I'd enjoy playing it.

It's just been a very frustrating time and in many ways, quite demoralising for me as I just want to play music I enjoy and have a reasonable amount of expression over what I play.
