And it has phase reverse. It has everything.

Yes.....it does. It is also 9v which helps. The Radial Tonebone pz-pre is 15v. The EBS will power up on the board easier. The pz-pre is absolutely awesome, great sound quality and great build. For me it’s the best acoustic pre amp out there - until now!

  2. That looks superb. Seems to have the same functionality as the Radial Tonebone Pz Pre (my pre of choice) but the TB only has 1 eq strip for both channels whereas this has 1 for each. Very cool indeed. Pricing looks similar too and both EBS and Radial know how to build a quality product.

  3. ‘Tis true in my case. I was a poor guitarist. My bass playing is ahem ‘passable’. However, it’s a bit of fun and not to be taken seriously. There’s enough cr4p going on in the World that we can take offence at so good on them for trying to lighten things a little.

  4. I've been researching octave pedals since watching the Guy Pratt lockdown videos and the OC5 ended up top of my list. I noticed last night that nowhere seemed to have stock so finally looked at Amazon who had plenty. Saw your post and thought I'd share the link for you however I seem to have bought one for myself before sharing lol 😆

If you can afford it and you have the notion for a bass that suits the band you are in and your style of playing then i would say go for it. They are great basses and the new ones with the switch mode can give you a more modern tone if and when required.

I quite fancy one too and once things pick up i might give one another try before buying. I had one in 80's and altho nice to play it was very limited in tone. Just didn't suit what i was doing at the time and sold it on i think i bought a Jazz bass after it. Its the one bass i never had a pic off. All white one too.

    Is that you Geddy?

  6. During lockdown v1 I bought a Markbass MB121p. I wanted a portable lightweight amp for rehearsals that would sound good with both electric and double bass. Bought from a member on here. A couple of weeks later I bought a NY121 new from Muziker to go with it for future gigs. Between lockdowns I was able to acquire my dream bass - Sadowsky metroline  MV4 (Japan) Will Lee. The guy I bought it from is also a member on here. Very happy with all of these acquisitions.

Welcome - do let us know what you think?

Well, that worked well enough. Only played at home volume levels but definitely worth exploring more once I get back in the rehearsal room and playing at volume. It’s like a hole in the eq spectrum has been filled and there is a ‘sheen’ present that wasn’t there before. Thanks again for the tip.

My suggestion for making a MB combo better is to add "presence" to the sound to prevent too much high end roll-off (if that's not your thing). I do that by boosting the high mids at +1.5kHz and 'usable' treble at +6.5kHz by 6 dB each The older LM2 and LM3 heads have a considerable EQ gap between 800Hz and 10kHz so I've sorted by either using an EQ pedal, or pair with a Tech 21 VTDI which has a "bite" (= presence) button.

Wished I'd discovered that particular refinement before moving on my MB AC 121 Lite combo a couple of years back, which for me is still one of the very best combos available and the only one that I'm aware of that can deliver a full 500W through its 12" speaker without need for an extension cab, but I'm putting it to good use with my more modest MB 121H combo where it works a treat.

This is interesting - I’m going to try adding some presence to my mb121p tomorrow by using my eq pedal. Thanks for the tip.

  9. Just bought a bass from Paul. Perfect transaction. All communication was good and questions were answered immediately. The description was spot-on and the bass was despatched and received very quickly. Well packaged too. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him at anytime. Thanks again mate!

  10. I'm happy to start a feedback thread for Mark who I met up with this evening. I was seriously tempted by the Markbass CMD121P he had up for sale so following the exchange of a few messages, I collected the amp from his home. I found him to be polite and courteous throughout and a very friendly guy. If it wasn't for social distancing we would probably chatted for hours. Nice to meet you today Mark and the amp is awesome. I would deal with Mark anytime without hesitation.
