2. Don't know if anybody else has posted about this but there I was flicking thru BBC Interactive and I come across a section with highlights from Muse's hometown gig from last week, start watching it and 2 songs in..hang on.. what's that bass he's got...blimey...it's only a headless Status!

Last bassist I saw playing one of those was Rhino from t'Quo!

Then on the next song, Chris is using what looks like a mirrored finished, maple necked custom jobbie (a Manson perhaps?), did look very cool!

  3. IMO the current issue is a marked improvement on the previous one so I think the mag is heading in the right direction, the interviews were definitely better: the Janek interview was very interesting and especially for me the Michael Anthony one was better than the interview with him in Guitar and Bass mag!

One thing though, I dont know why the guy who writes about his Scholarship is going in depth on all the techniques he's learning as the other guys who have written for that page tended to tell you more about the whole experience of going to a music academy which I for one found far better reading.

I'd like it if they would bring back the "Hometown heroes" thingy that Niceguyhomer was featured in (if my memory serves me right?) and my only real complaint which is pretty much the same as everyone's mentioned here regarding the reviews of basses that are WAAAY out of most peoples' financial limits!

  5.
There is one of those in Canterbury, the guy wants £1200 fot it.
Blimey, if only I had known I wouldn't have settled for £200 in part xchange for a p-bass when I was in The Bass Centre some years ago :)

  6. Ah...I've been thinking of getting some replacement pups for my Fernandes as it has a naturally "zingy" sound due to the maple neck but after finally gigging it a couple of weeks ago I've realised that I need some pups with a bassier tone, so I guess it would be a pair of '84's I might need to get?

  7.
If you're *really* lucky you might find an Ibanez Studio 8.

Heavy, but as good as an 8 gets, I think.

I owned one of these, used to bi-amp with a Trace stack and 50w geetar amp!

  10. I got my first issue of BP back in 91 (Billy Sheehan on the cover) and got it religously over the next 3-4 years, they covered many different players from the rock/metal genre - Sheehan, Muzz Skillings, Mike Anthony, Rob Trujillo to the more esoteric - Les Claypool, Michael Manring to the jazz/funk guys - Marcus Miller, Victor wooten etc.
Was a very good read and made me aware of different players/styles of music, have been still been buying it occasionally over the last few years or so but for me I find the british BGM mag a better read!

  11. My band entered the studio last week and if you would be so kind to follow the link in my signature you can hear the results!
Used my Fernandes 5X Gravity bass and my geddy jazz, di'd from my ashdown mag head, kept things fairly simple as had only got the Fernandes 3 days earlier!

    Cheers!
