1. Does anybody know of any good DB luthiers around Portsmouth, Southampton or Winchester?

I'm looking to get a setup done on a bass I bought recently (my first!) and have been given recommendatioms for people in Surrey and Oxfordshire but unless they can do it 'as I wait' (so to speak) I would have to take 2 days off work in order to drop it off and collect it.

    Thanks guys :)

  2. I bought a Musima Double Bass from Andrés and the whole transaction was a pleasure. Great communication, the bass was exactly as described.

I would buy from him or sell to him in a heartbeat.

    Great seller.

  3. My ABM 610 is the best cab I have ever played through. Sounds awesome with my ABM 900 and CTM 300. Still a pain to move around, but not as bad as an 810. Really tight sounding cab which really seems to bring the best out in my heads

  4. Selling off a few pedals that just aren't being used at the moment so that they might be enjoyed by others!

Great little germanium based boost/OD which gets plenty of love on here and on Talkbass (sorry if that is a dirty word around these parts!). Does a great job as both a clean boost if you turn the gain of the trimpot down and as a dirty boost to either add a bit of hair or go all out overdrive if you crank it. Lots of volume on tap just from the knob on the front. The internal trimpot is currently set as it was at the factory.

I had to replace the pot in this as the shaft on the old one got damaged. The new pot has a slightly smaller shaft, so the knob spins slightly off centre but is solid. Also, there is a pop when it is engaged and disengaged; from what I have read, this is quite common with these pedals.

This hasn't seen much use and certainly no abuse. There is hook velcro on the back of the pedal cut so that the serial number can still be seen on the base. The original box, rubber feet and instructions as well as the (now out of date) warranty sheet are included.

This is the orginal version of the pedal which people seem to look for in place of the 'Monocle Version' which was released a couple of years ago. Really nice subtle compressor that doesn't colour your tone and you sort of forget is there.

It has hardly been used. It stayed on my board for a couple of gigs and practices but was only stepped on once or twice I believe and was just left switched on from the previous time. There is no velcro on this as I couldn't get any to stick to the rubber but didn't want to take it off so it is in pretty much original condition. The original box and instructions are included.

    Aphex Bass Xciter - [s]£55 posted[/s] SOLD

Once again, this has hardly been used. I don't think these are available in any form now following a couple of different versions. This is the latest version, not the 'Purple Box' version that got a great reputation. As far as I know, the only thing that changed was the box. The info on the website sums up what it can do:

''Designed for musicians to easily dial in attack, spaciousness, depth and detail, the Xciter breathes life into your tone by enhancing musical harmonics. Presence is increased creating the feeling of a wider, more spacious sound. Bass frequencies are richer, deeper and more articulate and the emotional impact of your instrument's tone and your other pedals are highlighted. The Xciter pedal brings out the character and nuance of your guitar or bass without adding volume and distortion. So whatever you play, the Xciter pedal's controls will allow you to get the best tone out of your instrument. And Aphex's extreme die-cast structural design and materials will let you focus on your playing, not your pedal.

Increased Presence and Clarity

Greater Perceived Loudness

Improved Detail

Deeper, More Resonant Bass

Little or No Increase in Peak Output

Tighter Bass Articulation

Extended Low Frequencies''
Original box, rubber feet, velcro and instructions are all included.

Drop me a PM and I shall get back to you as quickly as I can :)

  5. The ABM 610 is a great cab. I actually prefer it to my ABM 810... Sounds much tighter to me. The difference in weight isn't that considerable; this is still a heavy cabinet, but the castors and pull bar make it pretty easy to move around. The smaller form factor is useful though as it will fit easily in a small car with the back seats down (I move mine around in 1999 Ford Fiesta and it fits perfectly alongside the rest of my gear) and can be lifted easily by two people thanks to the side handles and pull bar

    Hope this helps :)

  6. You will want to be very careful with that Laney cab and a CTM 300. The CTM puts our a huge amount of low end and will toast the drivers in that cab very quickly if you aren't suuuuuper careful!

The Ashdown CL series cabs (particularly the 610 and 412) sounds amazing with the CTM. I currently use an ABM610 and it still sounds the mutt's nuts!

  7. I saw Ashdown post a picture of one of these a couple of months ago on their facebook page and have been interested ever since. I have to keep reminding myself that I already have enough amps (5 Ashdown amps and several of their cabinets) and don't need a tube practice amp...

But is is awfully cute and if I could get it in chrome to match my CTM300 then I fear I would admit defeat and phone Ashdown straight away

  8. I found out about this band when I saw The Cat Empire on their last UK tour (on which these videos were shot) and was amazed to see a banjolele being played!

They are well worth checking out as their music is fantastic and the lyrics are an amazing mix of humour and the slightly macabre

  9. I found that the goo did an excellent job of blocking everything out! I had mine done at the London Bass Guitat Show a couple of years ago and I noticed that while the goo was in and setting, the attenuation was actually pretty good and didn't muffle low end too much (i.e. I could still hear everybody clearly slapping away in a tiny exhibition centre)

I love my ACS moulded plugs, they are one of the best investments I have ever made in my music setup
