  1. Due to an incoming bass from BassBros I'm having to re list my Precision bass to help fund it.

I had this up for sale but decided to keep it as I knew it would only be a matter of time before I'd be on the hunt for another but this time GAS has got the better of me!

Overall in very good condition with only light surface scratches. No chips it the lacquer and neck/fretboard perfect. Weight is just over the 9Lbs mark.

It's currently strung with new (ish) DR Pure Blues 45-105 but there's a spare set of flats included. The Fender case is included which is also in great condition.

I can't ship the bass yet as I have no packaging for it but I'm hoping that I'll have something suitable when my new bass arrives this week.

No trade offers please and the price is firm.

  2. The cheapest I used to get them was off eBay from an American seller. Took a bit longer to get here and no fees, I'm sure they were around £25 delivered but that was a good few years ago. I've just ordered a set from amazon for £30 inc. delivery.

Ok, no worries. Let me know if you do decide to unpack. I'd be interested if it's 40mm or wider.

    Cheers,

    Tobie

I don't think it was as narrow as a Jazz bass but not as wide as my 57' P reissue (44mm) so I'd guess around the 40mm mark. If I were to unwrap it I'd have to find more packaging to ship it again!

What's the nut width on this please?

I'm not sure (certainly not that wide) as the bass is all packed up and ready to ship and I don't want to unpack it all. It was going to be shipped out last week but the potential buyer dropped out at the last minute.

  5. Back up for sale is my recently purchased (from here) ACG Recurve. This is a 'Standard' series bass although there's nothing standard with any of Alans work. Superb quality as with all ACG's

The bass only weighs 3.6 Kgs and is in really excellent condition. There's no dinks or scratches to mention here.

I'm only selling to raise some funds towards boring non bass related stuff so no trade offers please.

I've included the link to the bass from ACG website with further pictures and build details.

Collection or meet/deliver within reasonable distance from Merseyside.

I'm now able to post the bass and it's all wrapped up and ready to go!

  6. For sale is my recently acquired US Precision. Bought from here not too long ago but just not getting used as its a little on the heavy side for me and I'm only using my very lightweight Roscoe bass now.

Although it only just over 9Lbs I struggle after about half an hours playing with it. It was advertised as being a bit lighter than this hence the purchase. I tried it a few times with the band but my crap back said no!

Overall excellent condition with only minor scratches on the back that the camera can't pick out. It comes with the Fender case, tags and strap.

Please note: This is a 9yo USED bass so there are minor age related marks and scratches, most of which on the back. Those with a keen eye may have noticed a scratch like mark in the upper horn. This was just a surface mark and has been wiped away. The overall condition is very good with no chips to the finish, excellent frets and the truss rod turns fine. The Fender case is also in very good condition as is the strap!

Collection or meet up from St Helens Merseyside (reasonable distance) only as I have nothing to ship it in.

    No trades thanks.

  7. Can anybody recommend a good (strong) speaker stand. Ideally big enough to carry an EBS 2x10 cab and amplifier sitting on top. Angled back (but not too much) for monitoring purposes.

I've been using a stand in the practice studios where we rehearse but it's a bit flimsy and not really suited the the size of my cab. But I like what it dose so I'm after a more robust and suitable solution.

    Thanks

  8. Sadly putting my wonderful Vanderkley cab up for sale. Without a doubt the best cab I've ever owned but my band circumstances have changed somewhat and I no longer have the need for a cab this size.

Before, we would practice at a venue with a good size stage and this cab was perfect, now we practice in a small rehearsal room where my 2x10 EBS cab is more than enough. In the 6 months of ownership I've used this cab only 3 times! Two rehearsals and one gig, it's such a waste. Though if things were to ever change, I know what cab I would get.

The cab is in excellent A1 condition and so is the cover. The asking price is firm (what I paid) and I will not ship so it's collection or meet up only within reasonable distance from Merseyside. If it doesn't sell I'll hang on to it.

Not interested in any trades thanks.

  9. There's been a number of occasions when 'cheap' gear on offer has really impressed.

I remember many many years ago going for an audition at some studios in Wolverhampton. The amp I was to use was a Laney Linebacker 100 combo. I remember thinking that I wish I brought my Warwick amp and cabs along which at the time cost me a fortune. But I was really impressed with the Laney, it sounded so good with my Stingray. I never got the gig BTW, I was nowhere near cool enough to be in their trendy Indy band!

I also recall going to watch a band at a local pub. By the time I got there they were already into their first set and walking through the door I was hit by the power of the bass. It was the sort of bass that thumps you right in the guts. Not necessarily muddy but punchy and deep. They were playing the typical classic rock pub stuff and the tone of the bass suited it perfectly. Again, a Laney combo (not sure what) and an old 60's Gibson EB bass.

There's been many a time where I've watched bands and the bass has sounded great, while the amp has been pretty mediocre.

  10. Very happy with these but sadly I don't get much opportunity to use the 650-Vanderkley setup. I think I've only used it three times, two rehearsals and one gig. Great sound though. The little EBS rig gets most use as rehearsals are in a small practice room now and not the old club with a large stage. We have a few gigs booked so looking forward to blowing the dust off.

  11. Back in the day when I was a busy gigging weekend warrior my final set up was a Focus 4x10 and a 1x15 powered by a MarkBass Tube 800. It was a fantastic sounding and powerful rig.

I bought my cabs new from Bass Direct. I can't remember how much they were but for the build and sound quality they were an absolute bargain. Having owned USA Genz Benz cabs prior to these I would say that these were every bit as good. They don't often come up for sale now, there's probably a very good reason for that!
