1. Are you the Socrates who was in Bill and Teds Adventure? Nice toga, NOT
 2.
Assuming a lot of you guys are weekend small gig pubs, clubs and parties like me, just wondering how many basses you take and why (other than for backup) I love playing my flats when I can, but some of the songs I do with my bands need a bit of brightness (from duran duran to guns n roses etc), so there's a reason for 2 basses I know at my level, one simple bass would do everything, but toys are toys Anyone gig a P type and J type bass during a gig?
I take two, both 5 string Status Classics, one fretted, the other fretless. I can change guitars quicker than the guitarist can select the next patch on his mega pedal, and I just LOVE the sound (and feel) of fretless on slow blues songs. Also, as both guitars are the same colour, it looks very cool. And finally, I tend to break strings so a back up is great for peace of mind
 3. Ah, the curse of redundancy strikes hard I must reluctantly part company with treasured EBS pedals. I have Unichorus and Octabass (both black finish, circa 2007) pedals for sale, plus official EBS power supply and 5 way loom All have been on pedal board from new, so pretty spotless Both pedals plus power supply, £170 inc. P&P Will consider split, but only have one power supply. Split price, each pedal £90, power supply £25, again inc. P&P No boxes, am looking for manuals but they are on EBS website. Very sad to see these go, but must eat, feed the car/children
 4.
With my favourite basses being in a few recent threads, I was wondering just how many Statii there are out there on BC at the moment? What attracts you to your particular choice of Status in terms of sound, playability & quality, etc?
Hi, two headed 5 string Classic's, one (fretted) built in 2001 (to celebrate the birth of my son), the second (fretless) built in 2003 (to celebrate the birth of my daughter) The guitars have a unique sound, fantastic necks and rock solid tuning. Oh, and they are both in awesome green finish. what attracted me? Built in Britain, not everybody has one (but there are quite a lot out there!), Dawn and Rob have always made me feel that they built the guitars with care, and still care after all this time.
 5.
I blame Simon Cowell
+1
 6. Thought I would spring for a new cable (the sun is shining!) Mailed Pete on Sunday morning for a price, he replied Sunday evening. I transfered the money on Monday morning, Pete built the cable and is shipping Monday afternoon. Service second to none say I! I believe we should do what we can to support local (UK) companies in our kit buying (Yes, I know my amps and cabs are Swedish ) If the cables are half as good as I hope, then I will change all my interconnects as soon as I can afford it
 7.
There's no science involved, it's God's will. On the third day he created the bridge (the rest of the week was spent on floating trems) and he saw that it was slightly wonky.
Outstanding , well said. Pity there weren't eight days, he could've done something about drummers and keyboard players!
 8.
I've got 3 priorities; first to impress and lock with the drummer, then as a rhythm section we have to impress the band, then as a band we have to impress the promoter and audience. The audience doesn't need to know what I've played, but as long as the audience thinks the band's great and the band thinks I'm great then it's a job well done!
I'm with Chris on this (Although it is nice when someone compliments you on the bass sound, makes the outlay worthwhile!)
 9. First gig rig: Shergold bass, Sound City 100 valve head (should have kept that) and 2 2x12 cabs I built myself (oh, and a WEM copicat, not sure why!) Now: Status Classic 5 string, EBS HD350 head, EBS Proline 2x10 +1x15 cabs, Line 6 M13 stomp box Still playing the same type of music, please tell me it sounds better !! What a great thread this is
 10.
Yes defo get a luthier up for a session. Sorry probably didn't type it k'recly. .....it should read that Shaftesbury is accessible from the east & west via A30 & A303 and north & south via A350. But, it looks like Shaftesbury is a bit far for a few folk from somerset, cornwall & devon, so looking for suggestions further west. It is a very large geographical area I guess so quite ambitious to cover south west. Maybe it should be a Dorset/Wilts/Hampshire bash if held in shaftesbury?? Just a suggestion.
Shaftesbury is fine for me, what is a few miles when you get to talk bass guitars/amps/kit for hours on end?
 11. And when the guitars are as good as Status are, you just have to have a matching pair. And then it happens with the amps as well
 12.
Careful, or it'll be the Wicker Man Festival all over again...
sadly Ewar woowoo is Mr. Dead, or you could be right. actually, that of course makes no difference having worked with many drummers over the years, i am used to dead people suddenly springing back to life Bright blessings to all (see, your worst fears confirmed!)
 13.
I went to Somerset once. It was closed Welcome!
Bilbo, We knew you were coming, we could hear the tractor miles away Basically Somerset opens for the 8 Pagan festivals each year, the rest of the time we keep ourselves to ourselves I would like to say it is nice to be on a forum with like minded people, that is what I would like to say but........ HeeHee take care all
 14.
Oh Gawd it's a Hippy! Welcome aboard that man, I spent many formative years down the road apiece in Taunton. Nice part of the world, a good part of me still thinks of it as "home". Pete.
And very spookily, I was born in Plumstead, spent 4 years in Blackheath! So, the balance of the universe is maintained, one moves from Lunnon to Zomerzet, and Sarf Lunnon gets Pete. Happy times Are you gigging up there? Mr. Quiet
 15.
Been thawing for the past few days now, only some of the pavements are dangerous now. Odd how it's thawing up North before the South.
Aha, cold hands, warm heart
 16. For me the answer was EBS (my grateful thanks to Bernie G) I have an EBS Gorm ET350 combo for rehearsing and smaller gigs (not so light ), for big gigs (and to put the guitarist in his place ) I use EBS HD350 head, EBS Proline 2000 2x10 & 1x15, perfect compliment to my Status 5 string, oh, and a Line 6 M13 stompbox Mr. Quiet
 17.
Welcome to the forum
Thanks dude, how is the snow in Aberdeen? Mr. Quiet
 18. Hello to all you low-down bums (term of affection, believe me!) came here via Rock-Til-You-Drop, fine site but this (and Statii.com) are the place to be. At last we can get out and rehearse, the snow has played havoc with our schedules down here in Zomerzet. So, time to dust the gear off and load the car up. BTW, listening (again) to the OST from 'Still Crazy', one damn fine CD and a fantastic film. Anybody else a fan? Off we go, see you at the bottom Mr. Quiet
