  1. The B&W p3s are good. Little bass light maybe. I have the sennheiser momentums, awesome cans. Really open with enough kick for my taste.

They have just announced the urbanite range which might be worth a look as well..

The cheaper akg headphones get great reviews if your budget is a bit tighter

I often find that engineers have a default 'roundwound' approach to EQing bass at source and in the mix, which kills the magic of flats.

    This^

You could also replace engineers with "garageband presets"

Yup, on both mine, best way :)
Means I can palm mute without worrying about pushing the saddles around.

    There's no "versus" about it.

Two entirely different strings that sound and feel different. Depending on how versatile you need to be sometimes you need flats, sometimes you need round wounds, sometimes you need tape wounds.

It's a bit like the fingers versus pick argument. The versatile player uses whichever is the most appropriate for what they are trying to achieve.

    Nailed it.....

Love and use both. Flats on a Precision make me feel funny inside.

Yes I would be extremely pissed if I'd spent years studying music to then not get a gig over a 'bedroom player' but in the creative industry it doesnt matter in the slightest what degree you have or where and what you've studied because at the end of the day the art you produce is all that matters. You are only as good as your last performance.

That might be true for some areas of the "creative" industry; however if you want to go and get a job as a graphic or product designer the reality is, most if not all employers would look at your qualifications. This might differ for Freelancers looking for work.
