I'd call his bluff. But be cautious about it.

It worked for me once, when I bought a bass on this very forum from a newbie (I had a wanted ad). Bass did not arrive, excuses were made, rats were smelled... I checked his profile, noticed others had checked his profile who had also wanted ads... and bingo, he had "sold" them stuff too.
I decided to approach him directly, expecting him to be not that bright, and made him believe I knew where he lived, and that I was going to be in the area soon. I made him believe I had contacts in the police who helped me find him, and I made him believe that I'd let it go if he reimbursed every one of us (one guy had paid by Paypal gift, so he was not covered by Paypal protection)... and in the end we all got our cash back. He was remarkably dumb, he got very scared about the possibility of getting a police record if we went for him... I hope he learnt his lesson and never did it again.

Your singer... cannot be that bright either.
Approach with caution, offer him a way out... Make him realise he's been caught and he could just walk away, and you might just get all your stuff back.
Needless to say, have backup nearby, and film the bastard if he agrees to meet you to return your stuff.

Good luck!

Not tried it & that PR thing they did the other week has pretty much made sure I never do; "we're the music worlds rich 1% but we need more money - you lowly poor person, pay twice as much for this service".
Pretty much sums up where I was at, surely the USP is the fact the audio quality is great. I also think the people who value Hi Fidelity audio are a little more niche in their choice of music, so using the worlds best selling artists makes no sense at all.

But like I said, I wanted to make an informed decision.

3. So I found myself moaning about the new Jay-Z fronted streaming service Tidal.

http://tidal.com/us

Marketed as taking the control back for the artists; I found myself a little bit confused at the whole message.

I thought I'd sign up for a free month to make an informed decision, 2 days in and the FLAC streaming has me suitably impressed. Certainly doesnt have the diversity of artists when compared to Spotify, but I'm sure this has room to grow.

Anyone else had a dabble?

If he was prepared to commit theft in the first place he's going to have no problem sticking to his story at all costs. And if he's innocent he's going to have no problem sticking to his story and quite right too. So either way this may not be a great idea...

I agree its a terrible idea!

The singer eventually replied to me after days of avoiding my texts and calls saying exactly what I thought he would say. He said he put the case outside the studio as he didnt know which van to put it in, and then when he left it was not there. Unless there is CCTV then that's it. I've got no proof, it's at the back of a light industrial unit so no footraffic whatsoever and we were the only band there that night. I'm just cross with myself that I gave gear to someone I did not know from Adam. If anything I hope this highlights to others not to make the same stupid mistake. The saga has ruined my Easter and I'm trying to put it all behind me and gradually replace all the items that were in there. But as everyone knows, our flight cases have all our bits and pieces in them, and I'm lost without mine! Night people.

Potentially a controversial option for you!

Tell him there is clear CCTV footage of him putting the case into his car, tell him you won't tell the police if he just gives you the case back/covers the cost of the contents?

Probably a bit immoral, but at the same time it might be worth a try.

I had a newbie, before Christmas, ask me to hold my Bleached Blonde Thumb for him. He was away on hol for a week. Two days after I knew him to be back, I saw him pm Kev, and buy Kev's Dirty Blonde Thumb.
Not a word to me.
So I pm'd him the next day and he admitted to it.
So 11 days on hold and the twat did not have the courtesy to pm me and say he'd bought something else.
Since then, only the chosen few will get an "on hold".

7. Afternoon All,

Up for sale is my TC RH450. I currently find myself bandless; add to that a June wedding you get the picture.

Im sure you guys know the technical gubbins, but just in case you dont.....

http://www.tcelectronic.com/rh450/

I've owned the head for 2 or so years (purchased from BC). Head has some dings and scratches; have tried to show this in pics. No cracks at all to the buttons. Will include the maplin briefcase with the head. Foam inside is cut to size and it does a much better job than any gig bag will.

£280 for the RH450 & case

Only the the head remains!

Would very much prefer collection from Stoke-on-trent/Derby/Manchester/Warrington or a reasonable halfway point. Will consider posting if the need arises.

I needed to put my glasses on to read the small print there :)

I was only trying to stick up for the guy, having done similar projects at uni I felt compelled to jump in.

Maybe daunting is a better word than condescending, Skank.

Possibly, but a bit of realism as to the practicality and cost wouldn't go amiss, and may even improve the mark he gets. Otherwise the design project will be like that ridiculous solar powered window-mounted mains socket which did the rounds a couple of years ago - an attractive concept but with absolutely no regard to the feasibility.
Drawing a box and labelling it "500 watt valve amplifier" seems rather meaningless if you can't reasonably demonstrate that a 500 watt valve amplifier could be built in the proposed box at the proposed cost.
Agreed, but the way of passing that knowledge and realism on can come off a little condescending. Especially to a forum newcomer.
