Ok, as the description says, if you had to have one of the BC Rich pointy basses, which would it be? Yeah those kind of exercises are amazing as long as you start off slow and perfect it before you speed up. A metronome is great for this. If you do as many patterns as you can (different stuff like each note being on a different string, legato, using three fingers with your right hand), you can develop so many different techniques. Also, if you make as many patterns as you can, you should easily be able to do anything that crops up in a song.

Yeah, I went to watch Michael Manring once and he let me try his out. I'm ashamed to say I can hardly remember what is sounded like, but it felt amazing... I dont even play fretless... I'm not sure I'd pay so much for one though! Do you know how much they are exactly?

For sale here is a Mackie 24:8 (thats 24 channels, 8 bus) in mint condition, you can tell it hasn't been gigged, and it comes with the meter bridge. Mackie is a really prestigous name in the music industry, something you want in your home or proffessional recording sutdio. "Mackie Analog 8•Bus Series mixers are the most successful in-line recording consoles ever made. They have tracked more platinum albums and major motion picture soundtracks than any other mixers in their class. Since its release in 1993, the Mackie Analog 8•Bus Series has consistently set the standard for both affordability and feature set in 8-bus consoles. It also comes with a stand that attaches onto it; its easy to take on and off but the screws are a bit worn. Everthing is working (except one of the dial thingys on the meter bridge) and in exellent condition, it also comes with a Mackie power supply. The mixer is [i]heavy[/i], no way am i posting this so cash on collection only. For cash, its hard to pick a price since price range on ebay from £350 to almost £2000! I'll be a bit more reasonable that those guys and say £500, the same as what the previous seller was selling it for.. EDIT: Ok I've changed my mind and I think I'm gonna hold out for a sale. Oops. Accidentally put £600 in the topic description. Fixed now!

I've tried a few of them, and yeah some are ok. Really looking for a more unique sound though. Also I'm getting this as a spare preamp for my guitar, so I thought I may as well put it to good use on my bass, if I can.

Ok. What I was thinking of doing was running the guitar preamp into the bass preamp, so when I wanted a clean sound just turn the guitar preamp off. Then when its on keep the volume low so its adds a guitar like distortion to the clean bassiness of the bass preamp. I'm not sure if that makes sense at all though. Would a half decent noise reduction pedal remove most of that noise? I could also use a noise gate for when I'm not playing.

I started a thread asking about running a bass into a guitar preamp, and I got loads of helpful answers, but its led me onto another question. Is it possible to run two preamps in a single chain? I don't have two preamps at the moment (second one should be arriving soon), but I'm just curious as to how it would sound, and if its even possible. Would this be a dangerous thing to attempt, and would it result into a catastrophically awful sound? In this case, I'd be running a guitar preamp, into a bass preamp, then into a power amp and a cab. Please let your thoughts known on this!

Oh, i didn't realise i'd need a power amplifier. Is there another alternative? Instead could I run it through my mixer and into my speakers? If not, can anyone recommend a nice power amp? Thanks!

Ok, thanks for your help! I'm actually thinking of running a my bass into a Pearce G2r (guitar preamp), then into a Pearce BC-1 (bass preamp), then into a Trace Elliot 1x15 cab. How does that sound?

Hi, I'm just wondering if its possible to run a bass through the preamp designed for guitar. I really want to know if a guitar preamp will give you a better distorted bass sound. Or could you run a guitar a guitar preamp into a bass preamp and then into a cab? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm relatively new to stuff like this. Thanks!
