  1. I've seen the blues guitarist with skeleton in Chichester a few times.
  2. Meanwhile on Basschat.Africa. ...
  3. Thank you. I looked him up and found a video of him. That could be the guy. Some of the fills he played sound strikingly similar.
  4. I heard a person playing some epic slap bass in Horsham yesterday afternoon but I was in a rush to get to an appointment so couldn't stop to watch. By the time I got back they had packed up and gone. A rare thing to encounter a busking bassist, especially of that calibre. Has anyone come across this particularly gifted busker before and knows who they are? If so could you point me in the direction of any Facebook/YouTube/other socials links? Many thanks 🙏 👍
  5. That bass was looking nice until I saw the back of it - looks like a Ferengi ear. Can't unsee it...
  6. I recently bought a Kala solid body U-Bass with a P pickup, which has nickel round wounds tuned EADG. Sounds just like a 34 inch scale bass, but bouncier (or less piano-like). I absolutely love it, and find myself almost exclusively playing this instead of my long scale basses. I took it to my luthier to sort out some high frets, and now with an action under 2mm, I can give it a firm pluck with no buzz. The string tension is perfect. (He couldn't get over how cool this instrument is, and the fact it has regular bass pitch and tuning from such a short scale.) I fell in love with it the moment I picked it up, and after a couple of minutes noodling realised the shorter scale was allowing me to be more creative, because I can move from point A to point B on the fretboard with ease. If you're reading this and you haven't tried one, I highly recommend giving it a go.
  7. Picked this up recently. Needed a fret dress, and now plays very well. My 2 1/2 year old daughter has started playing it too. I bought it under the pretence that it's hers...

  8. Send Ashdown an email, they'll confirm. They're pretty hot on email enquiries in my experience. Even Mark himself replies.
  9. The website is still online, but no checkout option on your basket. And just seen the other thread on here with the picture of the administrator details posted on a shop door. Sad times for the staff, gotta feel sorry for anyone in that position.
  10. We could smoke him out by telling him there's a lady friend of mine who's interested in dating a bass player. (I hope this doesn't break Basschat...)
  11. @Victor Cox Emails can bounce back due to problems with your own email service, not the receiving end. There are technical reasons for this which I'm just learning coincidentally as part of my job. Do you have another email service you can send from like GMail or Hotmail? Edit: just seen from main thread on bassday europe that others have had problems with bounce back, but probably still worth a try with another email service, unless you're already using GMail in which case the problem is definitely at the receiving end.
  12. The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio. They don't need a bass player, but they need a bass player, if you know what I mean.
  13. It was intentional. Congrats on spotting the irony.
  14. Yes. Yes I am. Please don't hold back. I'm not a snowflake.
  15. Edit: on second thoughts, I'm not getting drawn any further into this. But just to say, I love all the Muppet style pictures so far. Very entertaining!
