1. Sounds to me that they had a couple of replies to the first ad, and they strung you along in case the other ones didn't turn out. The second ad was probably chancing their arm for any more. Of course your insistance on using more than one brain cell rumbled them Better off without!
 2. I'd imagine everyone's job is safe. Bass is relatively easy to record so I don't think it will find the same niche as the drum vsts, but it's still very cool.
 3. That 20th fret wire is shocking. Even if it was better to put it down there, why would he not push it down flush. Bad idea, badly executed!
 4.
I liked this thread more when it was about Tab Clear
Me too, it even sparked me to look for an alternative (maybe a Pepsi Clear) but alas no...
 5.
Not long. My fault. I get a little defensive of other players around the "you must learn music camp" - my bad!
Fear not the OP's question was answered early on, leaving the debate to rage on...
 6. I picked Telecaster because my current gigger is a MIM Baja Tele that I love. I just get on with the plank like neck. There's something raw about the sound as well.
 7.
It's called GuitarPro, TuxGuitar or Powertab
Yep and in general the tabs/notation tend to be among the more accurate free versions ( i.e. ascii tabs)
 8.
I would also take it as a sign and marry you... then sue for custody of said can.
Never! Besides I'd have already bought a Russian bride with my lottery winnings. Just so I'm mildly on topic, wiki is very good at stating the advantages and disadvantages of each musical notation system.
 9.
How then do you work towards increasing tempo and thus dexterity/speed?
First things first, the slow speed is the speed at which you can play it completely perfectly. In the past I have caught myself out because I haven't been truely honest with myself about whether I'm playing it right. All the inaccuracies and bad habits at slow speeds will become worse as it increases to the point where you get a sloppy mess. Of course the other side of the coin is that if you are developing speed there is little point in you playing at 40 bpm if you can play it perfectly at 80 bpm. So, start at the speed where you can play comfortably and perfectly and try to be objective about this. You should aim to be finishing the exercise with a speed that you struggle to play. Again be objective about the point that your technique truly starts to slip. Now taking that into consideration, just say you start an exercise at 60 bpm (which should be somewhere close to a max speed that you are playing perfectly). Play the exercise and increase bpm slightly. After 15 minutes or so, you might be at 80 bpm which is where you're really struggling. After a few practises, the 80 bpm will be getting easier so you shift the whole practise window up 10 bpm or so, starting at 70 and going to 90. After a period of time you're up to between 100 and 120 etc. I guess it's a long winded way of saying that over time that initial 60 bpm will become so easy to you that it's just adding to your reps and essentially wasting time, so you just start higher. Of course, there is value in going the other way (i.e down to 50, 40, 30 etc) which helps with accuracy and timing but that's a whole other set of exercises.
 10.
That's two of us. Can there be some final cans out there? Just how long does the stuff keep for, anyway?
If I did happen upon a can I would consider it a sign and go buy a lottery ticket
 11. For a given technique, I found the fastest way to learn is to break it down into its simplest form, and practise slow enough that you can consciously keep an eye on whats going on. So for the alternate picking example, I would spend a little bit of time a day (or per hour) picking some patterns on the right hand with the left hand just muting the strings. That way you're concentrating on the mechanical action. Exercises such as 4 strokes on each string with a pattern E-A-E-D-E-G etc. Btw, practising hours a day will not help you if you are not intensely concentrating - 15 minutes of intense concentration on an exercise or two will do you far more good than an hour's mindless repetition of the same exercise.
 12.
(what with Father Ted having disappeared from the airwaves etc).
More4 every Sunday night - last night was the Eurovision episode
 13.
Coca Cola got rid of Tab in 1994, just to prove that it can be done.
That broke my heart, I was a big Tab Clear fan. Apparently the only one!
 14. The consensus is that morons buy his guitars. I can't find any evidence to the contrary.
 15. Not something I would personally use, as I spend most of my time on here reading/posting between bits of work, but its interesting. Maybe a poll is in order? I'd maybe add that I would a "live chat" feature, if possible, would be cool for talking over parts of the for sale section etc, or just a bit of banter between 2 people. Apologies if this exists, I'll admit I didn't do a lot of investigating
 16.
Did we? There's several lines of communication here, and several levels. We can not know everything that would answer who the bigger man really is, as some of this communication clearly is meant to change the audience's mind rather than the other part's. All the best, Bert
I take your point but as mike257 put it:
I live my life by the words of the great Roy Walker on Catchphrase, and say what I see.
As this has turned into a handbags at dawn state of affair then I would +1 a visit from the mods.
 17. Having to do the same for a new covers set! I can play it ok, but if I make one wrong note, I get lost and just wait for the rest of the band to come in lol. Even though I'm dreading doing this one live, it's really fun to play
 18. You want BestPractice. Open source and does slow down and pitch shifting (independently of course) as well as looping.
 19.
well is over now i will refund him the money but need to sell my bass for some money
Thread over, we found out who the bigger man was.
 20.
pickup doesn't work folks, never did i wanna refund.
Unfortunately, you're not entitled to one, and any "customer support" is only offered at SidVicious' discretion. Without some form of receipt the manufacturer isn't obliged to repair or replace it either as far as I'm aware. Looks like this one is just better put down to experience and move on.
 21. I would definitely consider it hard, and being handed it in the studio I wouldn't have had much of a chance, but then that's probably why I'm not in the studio Thank God for punch ins, eh?
 22. Well the whole story would probably be a start in fairness. This is like hearing two people squabble as you walk by - very difficult to make sense of any of it!
 23. Another vote for MarloweDK, he's very clear and doesn't go too fast.
 24. Couple of things that might help your sale along are: Would you split? Do you have pics? Where are you based, and are you willing to ship?
 25. My brother gave me a Leatherman Wave multi tool and I use it for on the spot guitar/bass maintenance. Only thing I don't like about it is that the screwdriver part is really in danger of scratching the finish on my tele when adjusting the intonation (my basses have a bit more clearance so it's less of an issue). I wouldn't use it at home for setups or anything as I have dedicated tools which are more comfortable to use, but it fits in my bag and is a quality product, perfect for in a pinch. I think it comes with the right allen keys but I haven't needed them yet. Edit: If you're just looking tools for general maintenance at home, I'd be an advocate of buying decent tools as you need them. It's worth investing in good ones as well, because even one stripped allen key in the middle of a truss rod adjustment will have you swearing all the way to B&Q to get a replacement!
