  1. Ooh, thanks for the heads up @paul_5! I can't believe this already has a veroboard layout. Good to hear it turned out well, and it's now on my build list for the new year!
  2. Thanks for the info. I must have confused the 500 and 800 where this happens. I suppose it isn't much of an issue in real terms as you mention. Good to know though!
  3. I read somewhere that the output volume of the DI on the Rumble 100 changes when changing the master volume level of the amp. And that it doesn't happen on the 500. Is this the case @Japhet, @casapete? I can't remember where I read this but it could be handy info if weighing up options.
  4. Best purchase: (Not technically a purchase yet, but it's a foot in the door) Worst purchase: 70's Seamoon Funk Machine circuitboard clone. Enjoyed building it but I never managed to dial in a sound I liked. Ended up reusing the housing for my DIY Fuzzrocious Ram the Manparts stripboard build.
  5. The nano-sized ones are now on the EHX website for $122 USD. Wonder when we'll be able to get our hands on them. I've wanted an op-amp muff for a little while and this may be the one.
  6. I think a nano-sized one will be announced today, based on the hype... The big box ones seem to be aimed at connoisseurs or collectors. Looks like ~6000 were made, with 300 of those in yellow for whatever 'Third Man Hardware' is.
  7. This video just released from JHS. While the pedal sounds good, it's Bob Myer and his hoard of treasures I'm blown away by. Bob is one cool dude.
  8. I signed up last year (received as a Christmas present) and feel it has helped my knowledge and general approach to music. I mentioned it earlier in the thread since it was the rhythm content which drew me in. There's not tonnes of bass guitar specific lessons, but I found I could transfer the principles to bass guitar. I have also recently started on the double bass, and it is really helpful for that! There's a lot of piano content in there for all sorts of levels. For what it's worth I've just signed up for another year at the base level membership.
  9. Thanks for that video. Really clear explanations. I hadn't realised some of those rhythms had specific names but should make them easier to remember. I've been paying a lot more attention to rhythm lately, and found some great resources and exercises on Open Studio Jazz. Some examples... This one isn't delivered on bass but I got a lot out of it.
  10. Got my head around it a bit better now, thanks!
  11. @jimbobothy I've been thinking of a modular setup a bit like yours, but I've not yet figured out what to do in terms of power. Or where/how to insert each board in the signal chain. Interested to hear how you get on.
  12. There must be an optimum elasticity of strap for this. A bit of R&D time would pay dividends.
  13. ...turns out the solution was quicker than writing this post. A couple of wraps of masking tape have sorted it.
  14. Beyond simply tightening the bolt holding the endpin in position, what options are there for addressing endpin rattle? I have discovered a rattle when I'm playing loudly which goes away when the endpin is bottomed out (bass closest to the floor), or I put pressure on the endpin by pushing the lower part of the bass with my leg. The bolt is a tight as I can make it. What else is worth a try?
