O Holy Night

That's really lovely, nice sound and a beautiful arrangement (and well played!). We played this in Church last week, it was the first time I'd heard it for a while and I'd forgotten how much I liked it. Thanks for posting it up, Merry Christmas to ya!
2. A talk about volume is on the cards, if he won't listen then a talk about another guitarist is in order. I don't know if this guy is maybe one of your mates, if so it can be a bit more awkward to bring stuff like that up. Best of luck with it anyway.
3. Glad to hear everything is pretty much back on track for you, really really nice bass there - it's always great to get one you know is going to be a keeper!
4.
I'd quite like a Westone Rail
Wow that's amazing, it's like a musical caliper!
5. I had a sunburst jazz, ok as long as you don't wear tassles!
6. I find the ABM to be punchier, warmer and generally to have more weight than the Mag. I did the opposite from you (and most folks I suspect) by moving from an ABM head to a 300 watt 2x10 Mag combo. The head was getting a bit old and I needed a low cost replacement for it at the time so I used the combo and the 4x10 Mag cab I had along with it. Compared to the ABM I find the Mag is 'sterile' sounding - it does the job, just without a great deal of character. I sold the 4x10 also and bought a Mag 1x15 hoping to get some deeper, warmer lows but much as the sound is big it still lacks the character of the ABM. If I were going to buy another ABM I'd definately go for one of the 500 watt heads with either 1x15 & 2x10 or else just the ABM 4x10. I tried the ABM 500 2x10 combo recently with a couple of different basses and it sounded fantastic, but after using the combo for a while now I'd rather have the versatility of seperate head and cabs.
7. Thank goodness it's just Roger Waters, for a moment I thought it was Liberarce.... Then I remembered he only plays sunbursts
8. I've played a couple of bowling clubs where I would like to have fainted, preferably before the first song. As a rule of thumb never play anywhere where bingo is the most important thing in the clientèle's lives.
9.
i really love Black and Maple basses.. it´s one of the best (if not the best) colour (and wood colour) combination. Oh.. just in case you didn´t notice.. you can see my bass´ pickguard is signed... Can you guess who signed it ?
Meant to ask about that, do tell!
10. Nice to see those basses, love the '78 P, looks well used. Your collection seems very familiar Stu, as you say best of taste! How do you find the hot rodded P? I love the slight edge the Jazz pup adds to the sound.
11. Here's the two I'm using now for all the black and maple fans out there. The Precision is a US Hot Rodded '99, these were only made for a couple of years before being discontinued, no idea why as the sound and feel is fantastic. I'd been on the lookout for a Jazz for a while when the Geddy came up on Ebay about two months ago, I'd just sold a Status Energy 5 so it was ideal timing! The J Retro 01 preamp was already fitted and the sound is very natural and very huge, so much so that I'm thinking of buying the stomp box John East now makes which is based on the 01 system to go with the Precision, which I'd rather not mod. The tuners on the Geddy are Hipshots as it was damaged in transit (ugly paint chips through to the wood as well) but I think I'd have changed them anyway at some point as the originals were a bit rattly. They're both keepers and see a fair bit of work, hope you like! Here's a demo I did of the Geddy with the J Retro, mostly just impro so sorry about the sloppy timing!
12. You have 45 days under Ebay policy to file a complaint, if you're unhappy with it then try to get your money refunded.
13. Given the damage to the bass I'd say you would be well within your rights to return it for a refund under the 'significantly not as described' policy. I agree that the neck is a huge plus point on this bass and it seems a shame you can't get to enjoy it the way you should. Maxrossell is probably right in saying the guy probably doesn't even know how bad it's condition is. Had a similar experience on ebay recently with a Geddy I bought. The bass itself is fairly good condition, bought it for £500 and has a J Retro system fitted which sounds great. Problem is the guy posted it out in a gigbag and it arrived with the machines ruined and some very large dings in the paintwork. When I contacted him he said he'd get in touch with the couriers and asked for damage pics, repair quotes etc. I sent him this off about six weeks ago now and since then the guy has refused to answer any mails I send him regarding the issue, got to say he's behaving like a real pratt. I'm down money on the tuners but on the upside now have some very nice hipshots fitted instead.
14. That is a nice bass! Always really liked sunburst but ended up with two fenders in black. Bit like preferring blondes and ending up with a brunette.
15. Had to reply....black on leather...mmmm Geddy Jazz with J Retro and US Hot Rodded P
16. I've never been to Guernsey so I don't know if it's one of my favourite places, but welcome anyway!
17. Great thread! I used an HH bass combo for a while in the mid eighties, don't know the model no but it was a 1x15 with a silver panel and as I remember a 3 way prescence dial. It was left in the rehearsal room we used and I never found out who it belonged to or what happened to it when the place shut down. Loved the sound though, gassing here for one now! Found this link to HH amps. http://www.hhamplification.co.uk
18. That's good to know, will save me a trip through to organize some!
19. That must be one big loft you've got! Welcome to the forums. How's the gigging scene around Edinburgh? Allan
20. Welcome, see you around the forums Oldman. Allan
21. Pleased to meet ya, enjoy the forums.
22. It is indeed Berkley, take it from your locale you frequent it as well. I've spent many (mostly) happy hours there. Great facility, even better with the new fancy coffee machines! We should be in at some point next week as we couldn't get booked for this week. Catch you around sometime. Thanks for all your comments on the vids guys, they're much appreciated and really encouraging!
23.
Sounds great! Your drummer is awesome. May I buy him? I'll give you £100.
Yeah Ross is pretty tight n' funky. Played in a band with him many years ago and really pleased to be playing what we're both into now.
24. Yep managed to work it out, thanks for replying with some help!
25. LOL, yeah I know what you mean. Think there's no West Ayrshire, just sort of rolls off into the sea, like California but colder. Thanks for the welcome guys.
