Yamaha BB34P Midnight Blue - as new condition - *SOLD*
Wellsyboy replied to Wellsyboy's topic in Basses For Sale
Yes - the buzz issue disappeared when I removed the wrapped strings and replaced with normal flatwounds. Just to be sure though I took it back to the Yamaha store in London and got the tech to check it and they said it was fine/normal. To be totally transparent you can force some buzz/hum whatever you want to call it by touching the polepieces on the bass side of the split pickup without touching any strings with the gain turned way up on an amp but this is the same for all these style of basses in the range - we tried it on new ones off the wall in the shop. They were all the same. But for all intents and purposes the bass is as good as a new one. Also has a very nice set of Thomastik Jazz Flatwound 43-100's on it. -

Band interaction has left me thinking whats the point....

the answer is in the title of the thread -
Just snagged a Warwick LE so this must go to help pay for it! Only had it 3 months from new - wonderful passive P/J style bass. Pro series hand built in Japan. Plays beautifully - immaculate as new condition. Will deliver over reasonable distance or happy to meet up. Buyer welcome to arrange courier.

The sim is only on the DI out not on the amp out as far as I know.

Nice new Warwick Streamettes are in at Andertons now
Wellsyboy replied to Mudpup's topic in Bass Guitars
some of the comments on here about the price are a little strange and a bit unfair - I think the price may be a tad high but look at the build quality of these and then consider what you pay for a Fender Custom Shop guitar or Bass nowadays. You get what you pay for in my experience. Agree that the Andertons demo was stinky poo - especially the 4 string. And not knowing what you are demo'ing is pretty bad. Better to look at Warwicks own offering on you tube. -
So I have been enjoying my new Yamaha 4 string bass but noticed something off today which I managed to trace to the bass side of the spilt 'P' pickup. I was noticing some serious buzzing and first thought I was a bit too close to the computer monitors in my den (as the PUPs are single coil). However it only happens when my thumb touches the pole piece under the low E string. When I realised this I touched the other poles on that split - same thing. Nothing on the other split (the ones under the D and G strings) and nothing on the bridge pickup. Makes me think this is a faulty pickup and not just a ground wire issue. I will, of course, be phoning the Yamaha store on Monday but any thoughts or suggestions from any techs on her would be most welcome. Thank you in advance.

They are around £1800 in most places - they would price match which would get you down to about £1475 if you do a bit of research - I got them to price match one at Peach guitars no problem. As soon as you buy anything new the resale value will immediately drop to at least two thirds of the retail price unless it is a premium item in short supply. The pickups are single coil - single coils will pick up all sorts of extraneous noise from lights etc. And yes they are fantastic basses - I love mine.

And he does a very good book on it too!

I recently joined here as a rookie bass player. I have played guitar for 50 years and have recently discovered the wonders of bass. Only gigging I ever did were pubs and small functions, weddings etc. I am serious about getting good! I love Blues, Rock blues, classic rock, R & B (of all kinds but mostly Stax Motown etc.)some new wave and punk stuff. I also like some jazz but more so the melodic stuff rather than the avant grade "intellectual" stuff - if it gets too busy it loses me. My question for all you fabulous people is - who should I listen to? I dipped my toe into a bit of Jaco on you tube but quickly pulled my toe out again (of course I haven't given him a fair shake so might need more specific direction with him please). Pino I enjoyed very much and of course I am totally familiar with Duck Dunn and Tommy Shannon. Sting I like very much. Never cared for the Who but might give them another try to listen to Entwistle. I caught a Bubby Lewis clinic on you tube and he was interesting but not sure. The problem with bassists (as a guitar player listening to music) is that you're never very interested in who the bass player is (until now). I will of course go back over my extensive record collection and have a relisten to the bass players - that's a given - but I would appreciate some pointers to help me along the way. Thanks in advance for any help offered. Steve

Rick Rubin calls Paul McCartney the number one bassist of all time

All in all a very silly article - love some of the comments on here though! -
Thank you very much for your help

So I have a '64 black panel Bassrig and currently use it at home either through headphones or, if I want to save some headphone fatigue, through a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 into a 1 x 12 guitar cab. I have two questions. Would it be a good idea to get a dedicated Bass Cab (thinking Bareface 10) to better reproduce the bass frequencies and is the Powerstage 200 ok as a power amp? Not really thinking of this for gigging as I am nowhere near that stage yet but would appreciate more experienced opinions please.

Wouldn't go as far as to say I'm reformed - still love my guitars but starting to realise I missed out on something all these years not trying it - going to make up for it now!!!

Thanks very much Frank

Does anyone on here use a foot stool for practising bass? Saw a Bubby Lewis workshop a few days ago and he described practising with the bass on a raised left. He crosses the left foot onto the right knee which (sadly) I can manage for long any more. Any recommendations?
