  1. What settings do you use on your ABM600 for rock / pop tones ? The manual offers some guides but I ended setting mine as above Not too far off Flat settings and with some valve drive ( seems to add warmth ) and no compressor

  3. I also agree they offer the best service going putting other companies to shame
  4. Did you get yourself sorted with the new Pot ?
  5. Previously as a guitarist I tried the all valve ( hybrid ?? ) valve heads and there was something lacking compared to a Marshall DSL 100 head. I wasn’t tempted by the bass amps but did consider them before getting Ashdown They do tend to have many choices in their range but as someone said breaking into a crowded bass market is really tough
  6. Exactly my reason to choose Ashdown They have great products at affordable pricing and perfect for gigging and studio Based in Essex they offer fast and helpful backup and service long after most typical manufacturers warranty run out. I was a long time Ampeg user many years back but for me Ashdown is just better in so many ways
  7. Liking my new settings on my RM800 Rock tone using a bit of drive and SUB Inspired by the ABM600 I’ve recently acquired and suggested tones in the ABM manual. Sounds good finger or pick playing ( PBass tone backed off ) Grind and punch sounding yet with clarity
  8. Call the U.K. office and ask for service They have Alpha pots in them I believe but not easy matching up exactly Ashdown service is fantastic and they will help you
  9. Ashdown NEO cabs are £399 each and weight 17KG one handed lift Choice of 210 or 115 both 300w rated part of the ABM series
  10. I was tempted but purchased the ABM 600 that was for sale on here So my RM800 will become my second amp and I plan to gig the ABM 600
  11. Ok guys an update .. our singer has purchased the Yamaha DRX10 speakers and a mixer from her local music store so we are sorted now
  12. I’m so amazed that singers apply to bands and in so many cases go not have any PA or even fold back etc They also tend not to know anything about setting one up and EQ, reverb, feedback etc etc Hey that’s band life for you !
  13. The PSX112 are lighter which may become a preference to our lady singer !!
  14. Yes just seen that originally advertised in 2018 !! It’s in Wales though and my singer is Cambridge
  15. All fixed ?? I had to visit them in Essex last week Great bunch of guys
  16. Do you think PSX112 would handle typical pub gigs if used for two mikes on vocals for rock covers band Not huge venues but large to medium sized U.K. pubs where volumes have to be sensible
  17. Would the Wharfedale PSX112 be loud enough for typical pub gigs ? They are rated 350W per side and next up is the heavier 15” version at 450W each
  18. Thanks for more advice ok some extra info The band will be a typical pub rock band with one guitar average hitter drummer me on bass and one vocalist ( female ) and guitarist adding BV I know a local band using the Alto TS312 cabs and they appear to be loud enough for our typical venues etc I’ve always thought that a genuine 300 to 400W per side is about the minimum more is better of course for extra headroom I think the singer is looking for new PA bundles without mikes as we have those already
  19. That’s correct 👍... it’s a new band with a limited budget and ideally trying to keep costs sensible and get us going for small / medium gigs and most importantly rehearsals .. some good tips and links thanks guys
  20. Yep I agree that looks unlikely Andertons would be able to compete, but to me that does look worryingly out of parity I always think a phone call is worth trying if only to make Andertons aware of the difference. Stores will only sharpen prices if we give them an opportunity or feedback and for the cost of a call we may just discover that deals can be had, unless it’s a Ricky in which case you could holiday in Germany ( when allowed ) buy the bass and still have change 😂
  21. I agree if the U.K. stores claim they cannot compete then Thomann etc have a chance to take the business. I do think we often don’t give some U.K. outlets a chance to compete with a quick phone call. Often its stock related and some great deals can be found but as we all know eventually there will be no physical stores to play basses or hear amps for real and we finally end up like the rest of the high street shops .. gone !! I don’t disagree Thomann are a superb outlet but I think supporting local and U.K. business should be encouraged even more so now
  22. How about we support our own U.K. stores and staff and encourage them to be more competitive which they will often do when asked. Ive used Thomann once last year for a Marshall valve Combo that took ages to arrive and worried me a bit if needing to go back. Now I will stick with PMT, Andertons, or Ashdown direct etc etc Granted we still have the U.K. couriers to contend with but I’ve found DPD to be excellent and accurate with delivery promises etc Buy from British based stores - you know it makes sense 😉
  23. what about Alto TS312 cabs x 2 Are they any good as a starter??
  24. I think budget for two speakers / stands and mixer would be £500 to £600 approx Not much I know
