1. Got it in the post yesterday - so far, wow! Extreme squash and sustain, just like I wanted. I'm gonna put it through its paces with my 6 string, my 12 string tapper and a fretless. Should get some sound clips up soon.

Wow, this stuff looks superb! Having recently moved onto touchguitar/non-stick I've been looking for a way to get my stereo sound into a single amp without a lot of fuss (the Boss LS-2 was a hassle, and available y-cables seem to be of very low quality). I noticed the 'mix' part of the split/mix - then I read about the SP2! Got to get one
3. Not tried it yet, but after reading Ovnilabs I purchased one via ebay - should get it in a week or so. Will probably do review or put up some soundclips as I couldn't find much on youtube or elsewhere regarding the bass compressor specifically.
4. Gotta say I'm firmly in the MAG camp. I currently use a MAG600 - it's the uk built non evo version that was around briefly, and I run it through a klystron/classic 410. Sounds superb - it's transparent enough and yet warm enough to do what I like. Never had an issue with volume or power, but also I've never been one for overdriven crunch so couldn't really comment on that aspect. I have frequently used ABM stuff in rehearsal rooms and elsewhere and have developed a dissatisfaction with them. For some reason the ABM heads and combos I've used always need significant eq and what not to get a decent punch. They seem to get lost in the mix as well. I did once get to A/B an ABM500 combo (410) with my MAG600 + klystron 410 when doing a weekend lock-in prior to a big gig with my prog metal band. The difference was astounding, the ABM was weak and lifeless and failed to stand up to my mate's Mesa setup of doom, whereas my humble MAG displayed raw power and tone that punched significantly higher than its retail value. I'd be curious to give a klystron head a whirl, and reckon it would be the middle ground as far as tone goes. The new micro (or whatever it's called) intrigues me as well.

13. This is my Hudson Project Bass; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11-vw94-Si8 Hudson appears to be merely a trading name used at Cranes music in Cardiff - the bas is clearly a copy of the Tanglewood Canyon (and Cort Curbow before that) and is allegedly made at the same Tanglewood factory. Being left handed my options for a 6 string were severely lacking and when this beauty came up a £600 I had to take a chance. I was not disappointed! It's a beast! I have however replaced the eq with the ACG filter stack, and upgraded the hardware to gold stuff to match the Optima Gold stings I use. Also been having a severe Gas attack recently and go hold of both the the Markbass Chorus/Flanger and Super Synth to accompany my Ashdown Dual-band Compressor & Envelope filter, EBS Octabass & Tremolo and Boss stuff. Oh, and then there's the 12 sting touch guitar I've ordered... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=114970 2011 needs to be cheap!
14. Hey all, I recently decided to attempt to enter the mystical world of Touch style guitars! After a fair amount of research I decided to go with the cheap and cheerful Krappyguitars - don't be fooled thee things are the business, and a fraction of the cost of the Stick, Warr Guitar, Mobius Megatar etc... After a bit of emailing back and forth about exactly what I'm after (a mutant sibling of my Hudson PB6) building has commenced! My neck, seventh from the left: Fretboard fitting: Wings: Mine's third from the left: It is left-handed although it appears not to be - the reverse bodied design is for balance purposes. I'd like to think I'll get this wee beastie in time for Christmas, but I reckon early January is more likely. Can't wait!
15. I never really got Sade (except smooth operator, which I always enjoyed playing) until a singer/songwriter friend of mine got me to listen to a few tracks as an example of where he thought his material should he heading. The sublime and infectious grooves on tracks like 'The Sweetest Taboo' 'No Ordinary Love' and 'Cherish the Day' really caught my attention. When the bass is both utterly in control and somehow unseen I get a warm glow.

18. Hello! I've been playing bass for about 15 years, and have recently embarked upon a degree in popular music to try and gain some form of academic recognition for my passion (besides, a 'proper qualification' is needed for my long-term plans). I did spend a year at BIMM, which was expensive and mostly pointless, but I met people who I could drink with and work with, so it wasn't all that bad. My main bass for the past 8 years has been a long suffering Aria, think it was a Magna, 5 string - left handed. Over the years it's been abused and bashed and beaten and stripped and resprayed so often that it's lost alot of weight, but gained so much playability and character. She also sports EMG p5j pups and the BTC system, and gets strung up with Rotosound 66s (50 - 140). What with pushing myself to study and develop further I've recently upgraded to a 6 string - a Hudson project bass. Being left handed of course severely limited my choices of 6 string (in the UK and on a reasonable budget). You've probably heard of or seen threads asking about the Hudson basses, well, mine is a beauty. Essentially a copy of the Tanglewood Canyon/Cort Curbow, the PBS is a through-neck (maple/mahogany/maple/mahogany/maple) with mahogany wings topped with some gorgeous spalted maple. The single pickup and active eq give a great modern sound with stingray like bite, but it is a little limited and harsh when pushed too far. I have plans to replace the pup and eq in the new year. Generally I'm a prog nut, but of course like any good bassist I listen to & play alot of music of differing styles. Oh, and I'm playing through a (UK built) Ashdown Mag600 head, but am on the lookout for new cab() as my old Laney has gone the way of the dinosaur! See you out there.
