  1. I had one too back in the day. I remember a compressor/enhancer setting that was great! GLWTS. 🙂
  2. Certainly worth a try in the meantime I reckon @Clarky, it's gonna come off anyway to sort the thumbrest holes
  3. Yeah, I over bodged it with a sponge, after mulling over it, I'm gonna stick with black, but find something better..
  4. I quite like the idea of a black one when I compared it to the relic'd tort as a colour scheme. Maybe just a shi!!y example of one? Although not completely sold. I used to be indecisive...😁
  5. Just noticed the second to last image is a fantastic shot of the hercules stand foot 😁
  6. Sorry all, been abit pre occupied, anyhoo, been progressing this in the background... 1. Tested and installed the originals electrics, pickups, pots, jack etc.. added a fresh earth 2. Stuck with the rabid bridge, it's grown on me (literally some sort of symbiote). 3. Neck back on, deep talking flats added. 4. Pickguard gate - I went with a roughed up black, the ply white is too white, any suggestions? I set the screws in as they were protruding a little too much. Amateur relic job, passable or nah? Honest opinions welcome, I won't cry. 5. Forgot to reinstall the thumb rest holes so need to do that, PG off again! Missing a PG screw as it snapped during Removal, it felt like it was glued in by the jack hole originally, probably over screwed in the past or something hence the bodge fix?! 6. @ossyrocks kindly lent me some of his body cleaner, ive given it a good go, but dunno if the old girl is for turning.. 😆 If anyone has a rusty PG screw available I'd love to snaffle it, same with any 'better' Pickguards 🙂.
  7. It literally has started a new pandemic 😆
  8. Unused Aged Tort from Charles guitars Price includes delivery. As per: https://www.charlesguitars.co.uk/aged-relic/jazz-p-bass-aged/vintage-relic-p-bass-wide-bevel-brown-tortoise-pickguard
  9. That's a good idea actually!
  10. It's pretty corroded underneath, but seems to be earthing OK. See how we go i guess.
  11. Update: Soldered the electrics back together, going to plug it in and see what comes out once it's back together. Maybe nothing?! Kind of liking the bridge even though its like a rotting corpse. I do have another on the way..
  12. Bump for a lovely bit of kit. Worth much more than it's going for i reckon
  13. I could have what's purported to be Kent's best sausage roll for £3.50. I'm going to stick with that I feel.
  14. Ok, so on the rare occasion I use an amp (once in the last 5 odd years) I blew a fuse on this. 🫤 I've ordered a new pack of slow blows. Dunno if it means a problem? Dodgy fuse? Just needs a service? New valves? No idea. I need some dosh this month, so offering this up for £600 no offers. It might be fine, whilst I can power it up with a new fuse I will not have the opportunity to use it over a period to confirm reliability and dont want to run it to Ashdown's for a service only to sell it. If it does not sell, I will no doubt end up north of the river at some point this year to drop it off for a service.
  15. I think it could be quite fetching in black. Got a cheap one laying about... it would certainly solve the tort dilemma (or tortgate as I now call it), not into the idea spending hundreds on a spitfire one ATM... That said, the colour of the thumb rest suggests it may have been tort - similar to @wateroftyne colour.
  16. A shocker then??
  17. What about this? https://reverb.com/uk/item/84471655-pour-fender-precision-bass-precision-low-thumb-70s-brown-turtle
  18. Cheers Rob, I will have a look into those!
  19. Is there one you'd recommend or is it that in general repro's just don't stand up? If it's the latter I will probably stick with it, but if there's better out there...
  20. Ok so purchased this off Charles guitars, what's the opinion? It's better than what was on there certainly, but can it be better? I really don't know about scratch plates, it's supposed to be aged, it has light relicing scratches and browning. That said, I thought it would be 'duller' ie not quite so shiny.
  21. Hi, I bought hardwood plugs, so presume they would do. I have plenty of muck left over from the drilling so was going to use the dust to help blend? It's pretty light, but diddnt weigh it before taking it apart. I will let you know when it's back together. I had a '69 once that was light a a feather, almost diddnt seem real. This comes close. Loved it, see my searching for post..
  22. Took these off a project bass, they are not for me! £60 including shipping. Cheers, Andrew
  23. In response to the above queries of the bridge, a mere fool could google bog bridges and I quote: 'A bog bridge is a bass part cadaver that has been naturally mummified in a peat bog. Such bridges, sometimes known as bog bridges, are both geographically and chronologically widespread, having been dated to between 8000 BC and the Second World War.[1] The unifying factor of the bog bridges is that they have been found in peat and are partially preserved; however, the actual levels of preservation vary widely from perfectly preserved to rust particles and dead skin.[2]'
