Pretty sure there's one on e-bay at the moment.
Be quick, finishes at about 14:30
At £118 so far.
Edit:- Ended at £200. -
I think if you want a bass with specific features to you that will be very well made then try a few Shukers out and take the plunge if you like the way they play. As someone else said, if you're sitting there drawing up a spec sheet wondering if every option you pick will affect the re-sale value, walk away and buy retail as you're not buying custom for the right reasons.
As for opinions, I've played both Finbars and loved his p-bass copy. Whether I'd drop that kind of money on any bass is questionable but for the price you pay for MIA Fenders, I'd go Shuker every time. -
I already tune down, I've got an M5 with pitch glide on and I own not one but 2 capos.
No thanks. I'm sure someone will find it useful, but not me. -
£562!!! That is one hell of a good price, for one hell of a good bass. Anyone smiling round here?
Having reviewed my finances, I resisted. Maybe the seller will let me pop round for a blast seeing as we both live in Sheffield west. Shame as I don't think I'll see a nicer bass at a better price within short distance any time soon. -
I don't reckon there's much to be gained by learning ebass first. Go for the upright from the outset!
There's also a stunning Artia B+H bass on ebay at the moment. I have one, very very good entry level basses. £410 with a day to go.
Worth a grand I'd say.

And now I am too, all the more annoying as I can't dismiss it due to collection as it's in Sheffield. This could get expensive. -
It's the '73 Jazz for me. Always had a hankering for a 'busrt Jazzmaster with block inlays and the corresponding bass looks as good, if not better.
-
I layed an EB0 for a while in store. Very good for the price if you can get an earlier model but don't expect a wide range of sounds. Nice to play, being not a huge person with tiny, girly hands.
I've heard very good things about converting them to fretless and adding flatwounds if that's your thing. -
What would need doing to it in your opinion to make it playable?
-
I was going to boast about my lack of GAS being a gear simplton when it comes to bass but I've got a bad hankering for an EUB.
-
Caleb Schofield or John Paul Jones for playing tips.
Others for BILF reasons. -
i have such a big head i can never really find hats to fit me
+1
I have a massive head and most places that sell hats only go up to about 60cm which won't fit me comfortably. -
I owned the aluminium cabs, a 210 and a 115. Every single one of the cones came away from the paper surround and quickly disintegrated, shedding shards of aluminium cone throughout. Then one day the cab died a painful death and took my amp (Warwick xtreme 5.1) with it, necessitating a massively over long repair (thankfully still under warranty). We also borrowed a 410 version at a gig and one of the speakers started dying after a few minutes of playing which cemented my view of them.
I'm sure a lot of Behringer stuff is very good for the price but I feel the alu cabs are so bad I'd go as fas as to warn anyone looking at them in a shop not to buy them, which is something I'd never do with any other bit of kit. I've never touched another piece of Behringer equipment since. -
I think some cabs are stereo (Ampeg and Peavey 8 by 10s) so you might be able to do it with one of them.
-
I'd be tempted to hang my jacket on while I was playing.
Looks like a very nice instrument, an EUB is on my list of things to buy when I have the cash. -
Sheffield represent. What's everyone's band called?
I'm in 2, the one where I play bass, inFictions http://www.myspace.com/infictions
And a new one which doesn't have a name yet where I play guitar. Recording soon. -
As am I (and Pliskin and Finbar if you come across them on here).
Welcome to Basschat! -
With the VT bass, much like the BDDI Deluxe
Am i right in assuming the 2 inputs can be used for 2 separate instruments (If the pedal comes before the Amplifier)?
Also it has 6 effect channels, How do you switch between the first 3 and the other 3? does it depend on which input is being used?
I.e you have 3 programable presets per input?
Cheers
I've never used it with 2 basses but yeah, you can plug a bass into each of the 2 inputs. The far right hand footswitch then selects between the 2 inputs and the other 3 switches select between the 3 presets for that input.
If you just have one bass plugged in then you can use the right hand switch to give you another 3 presets for that instrument, a total of 6. The right hand switch also controls the effects loop with a double tap, but again, I've never used it so don't know if it's any good or not.
Hope that makes sense. -
Doesn't one of the switches turn the fountain on from the lions mouth? Or did I dream it?
Yep, another turns on the red LED eyes. -
The BDDI is probably better in respect of using it as a DI, And what i'll probably end up doing is Getting the VT Deluxe using that live for those great vintage tones, And then if i'm not 100% happy with the DI sound i'm getting from it, Invest in the BDDI either the single stomp-box, but since theres only about a £15 - 20 price difference may end up with the 3 programmable version.
I'm considering selling my programmable deluxe as it's overkill for what I use it for. I'll PM you when I've made a decision and advertise it on here. I don't use bass effects (bass > tuner> sansamp > amp) so I have no use for the FX loop and just use the Sansamp going straight into the front of my amp to shape the tone and give a clean/dirty channel.
Yeah, i believe the Deluxe (Like the VT Bass) also has 2 separate switchable inputs, an FX Loop as well as a Parallel Out, whereas the Programable is just the 3 selectable custom user defined tones.
It does, you can also plug one bass into the 1st input and can use a total of 6 presets on the deluxe. -
That and the fact that they dont have a Programmable VT with 3 presets. That'd be great!
Er, they do! The VT programmable, unless I'm missing something. No blend control though.
Edit:- Me being dumb, it's called the VT Bass Deluxe. -
Here's a list off the top of my head.
Sansamp Bass Driver DI
Sansamp programmable Bass Driver DI
Sansamp programmable Bass Driver DI Deluxe
Sansamp VT Bass Deluxe
Behringer BDI-21
Aguilar Tone Hammer
SFX m:D2
SFX m:D4
MXR M-80
EHX Bass Metaphors
Hartke Bass Attack VXL
Seymour Duncan Paranormal
Radial Bassbone
EBS Microbass 2
Feel free to add any I may have missed. -
My Rat. Tried a load of other distortion/OD/fuzzes and it still finds it's way back on my board. In fact out of all the pedals I've ever owned, it's the only one to still be on there since purchase, although I only pulled my DD3 as it started acting up.
The other thing is my Matamp. Great sound, reasonable cost and I live an hour from the factory so I know they'll fix it quickly and properly and not charge me a fortune. I can't imagine ever wanting or needing another amp. -
Aargh, my nicely typed reply just disappeared!
To summarise, you can hear both computer sounds (eg MP3s) and whatever's going into the interfaces inputs through your speakers/headphones. The 'mixer' control on the Focustrite does this job, balancing between the 2 audio sources so you could run your BT and play along to an MP3 no problem.
As for going through your hi-fi, just get a stereo phono lead and go from the back of the interface into your hi-hi amplifier and use it as normal. You don't need a pair of expensive powered monitors if you've already got nice hi-fi equipment, although it's up to you. Connecting speakers designed for computers is more difficult as they have mini jack connectors which most interfaces don't have an output for.
Finally, it will be easier if you use an external tone shaper (eg POD or your Tascam if that's one of its features) instead of going through a VST (eg Amplitube) to avoid any potential driver conflicts. For example, I can't do anything that requires sound if I'm running sequencing software (Reaper in my case) as there's no sound from anything but the sequencer. This means I can't load up Reaper, fire up a guitar amp simulator and jam along to an MP3 in Windows Media Player. This might be specific to my computer as my interface is now unsupported.
Any questions, feel free to ask and I'm sure they'll be answered. -
Shame, that is a stunning looking bass.
I love my Warwick neck but it is quite different from other basses I've played, suits my small hands but I can see how it wouldnt't be for everyone.
Shuker basses - opinions please!

Well that seems to make a fair bit of sense (except where you used the word "quicker" for a Shuker build).
Where are you based? I'm sure someone nearby will have a Shuker you can have a play on. They don't all play the same obviously but it would give you a rough idea.
