1. Very high quality SKB 3i-5014-6 Waterproof Case with wheels The case has 2 layers of foam so you can actually fit two basses in this case - one in each layer of foam. I have only used one layer which is cut to fit a Fender P bass. The bottom layer is uncut. This sort of foam is readily available and can be cut to size to fit exactly whichever bass you wish to protect. Has reinforced stainless steel padlock holes so you can fit TSA or standard padlocks. See here for details: http://casemarket.co...foam-2084-p.asp Here's the full spec: SKB 3i Series Injection Moulded Military Standard Waterproof Cases are made of ultra high-strength polypropylene copolymer resin. 2. Still here despite lots of interest! No trades though please.
 3.
I have your basses younger twin sister. I got in a trade last year with the intention of trading it on. It instantly cured my P bass GAS as It is a joy to play. You description of dialling in the sound is spot on. I'm not sure what you are looking for but you should keep it. I don't think money will buy a better bass for general use.
Thanks Pinball - it's going to hurt but it's all for the greater good (so my wife says)
 4.
As someone who recently treated himself to the Tribute version of this - the Tribute is great so this'll be just that little bit more luxurious feeling. Great sound, punchy, powerful pickups (turn down that gain knob a touch!) and don't worry about the lack of tone control - use the volumes as directed at the start of this thread and you'll get your tonal variety. GLWTS

I had one of these for a good while and upon reflection shouldn't have let her go. (this may even have been it!) These are gig monsters, knock ANY p bass i have ever played...and there have been a few,...into the weeds. You cannot dial a bad sound out of these. Slightly smaller than a p bass with a more jazz like neck, make them easy to live with when you get to that 'ooooh my back' ...part of the evening. Dont let the lack of tone control put you off, these are great guitars. GLWTS
Many thanks chaps! As you say, fantastic basses!
 5. I bought this beauty over Christmas but sadly something I’ve been waiting for years has come up on here that I need to get. And the “Mrs Williams” rule is a strict one in one out policy otherwise..... divorce :0) This is a 1990s USA made G&L SB-2. The serial number is on the neck plate, I’ve tried to date it but it is confusing, I’m sure someone on here will know how but I'm guessing around 1997. I love P basses and this was designed to sound like a P bass… in turbo mode! Those Leo Fender MFD split-coil (neck) and single coil (bridge) are just ferocious. Being a USA G&L, the build quality is impeccable and this is built like a brick but nice and light at 4KG (8.82 lbs). Unlike Fender, the G&L High Mass Saddle-Lock bride holds everything rock solid. The "huge" choice of the 2 knobs is an interesting one…. I think of the Jazz bass bridge pickup control as more of a “Tone” knob as it changes the amount of P bass woody/bite you get. So it can sound like a normal P bass if you like :0)

Bridge off, neck full on - P-bass on steroids.
Bridge off, neck 2/3 on - very close to P-bass
Bridge 3/4, neck full on - balanced, warm but punchy SB-2 signature sound; not quite like most PJs I’ve played, but very close.
Nice demo here: https://www.youtube....h?v=tgIp-czCOiw and here: https://www.youtube....h?v=BeKLsa6W63U When I got this bass, it was in amazing condition considering it is probably around 18 years old. No dents or scratches etc but when I get a new bass I like to give it a birthday to make it “mine”. So the neck, headstock and body were polished to a high sheen using compound and polish and all chrome and frets also polished. I rubbed bit of lemon oil on the neck to clean and protect and it’s gone a nice darker shade of rosewood. All cavities have been screened plus the rear of the pickguard so there are no nasty hums - something again I do with all my basses. The end result is stunning - it looks like a brand new bass! Really. The white body finish has a very subtle sparkle finish which you can see in pic number 8. The neck is not typical "baseball bat" P bass but more akin to the current USA P basses, so quite slim and comfy. Comes with original G&L case (and all certificates/warranty cards etc) which is in great condition except 2 of the stud feet seem to have cracked the plastic that it is secured to - see pics. 6.
i cant believe this bass has not sold yet!! a through neck top end yamaha for £450 is just mental! i really wish i had the money as i would have jumped on this.
Many thanks Adleman - great bass indeed. Looking like it may be sold....... Gary :0)
 7. Just to clear up any misunderstandings, this bass has been "sold" twice in the last 3 weeks but the sale fell through as the buyers didn't have the money to pay for it. Which is a first for me on here :0) The bass is just fantastic and, in my humble opinion, an absolute bargain!
 8.
https://www.youtube....h?v=OZB1hW-0Hag My very quick comparison between the Deep Impact and Future Impact, using 2 settings I commonly use live. This is after ~10 mins of playing with the settings, but you get the idea. The lowest note I hit is a low E to test the tracking on the sub octave synth setting(!) For reference, that's an 18V active bass with roundwound strings. My shoddy playing at the beginning does the original Deep Impact a disservice (sorry Akai).
Must get the settings for that 2nd sound you use :0)
 9. Hi Jonny - apologies for delayed reply, been away on gigs. Yes the bass is still up for sale
 10. Hi all - is there anybody on here who can recommend someone to create a custom pickguard for me? A few years ago I use the legendary Bass Doc Howard who sourced the material and did a brilliant job for me. Looking at various older posts it looks like his health has deteriorated bless him and he's not on here anymore. I do hope he is ok, a great font of knowledge and a true gent. Gary :0)
 11.
Probably sold
Not yet but lots of interest!

 14. I bought this beauty back in September 2015 from fellow Basschatter mmc as I had some short term gigs abroad and wanted a "budget" bass so I didn't have sleepless nights worrying about taking my CS Pino or MM Stingray...... we've all seen those photos on Facebook of broken guitars and cases on runways caused by clumsy baggage handlers. Plus I've always wanted a Yamaha bass! What I didn't expect was the build quality of this bass, it's built like a tank (but only weighs 9 pounds) and also the fantastic variety of sounds available via the great actives onboard this bass - ferocious P bass tones and great active slap tones with sizzling highs. But I now need to pass her on as she is no longer required and I don't want to upset Mrs Williams. Here's a clip of Nick Fyffe from Jamiroquai putting a Yamaha BB2004 through its paces: https://www.youtube....xHaim0yhALtQesg I have no idea of age but I guess it is fairly new as it is in great condition but I do know they are now unavailable from new. The serial number is QML 249003 if that helps anyone. At a guess, I'd say 24th September 2003 but I'll message mmc to see if he knows the exact age. Just Googled and they were apparently discontinued in 2006. There are a couple of dings on the body top and bottom edge and small ding on the headstock as you can see in the pictures below but all very small and superficial. Here's the spec from GAK on the BB2004: “Designed with a sleek, deep-cutaway body profile, this new bass offers many of the features that have made Nathan East's BB-NE2 the deserved flagship of the BB range. The maple/mahogany through-neck promotes maximum sustain in conjunction with individual bridge assemblies for each string, while the playing range is a full two octaves. The rosewood fingerboard is decorated with sumptuous pearl block markers. A stunning palette of sounds comes via two powerful single-coil, controlled by two-band EQ and a pickup balancer, plus the additional tone-shaping facilities of a variable mid cut frequency control and cut-off switch.” Here's the Yamaha Spec: Scale Length: 863.6mm Construction: Through Neck Length: 1137.0mm Width: 315.0mm Net Weight: 4.3kg Body Material: Maple, Alder Body Depth: 47mm Fingerboard Material: Rosewood Fingerboard Width: 0-F40.0mm,12-F56.4mm No. of Frets: 24 Neck Material: Maple, African Mahogany Neck Thickness: 1-F21.1mm,12-F26.4mm Hardware: Chrome Plated Nut: Bone Bridge: BPZ-8 Diecast (Chrome) Controls: Master Volume, Bass, Treble, Mid Cut Freq, Balancer, Mid Cut Toggle Switch Pickups: Front: Humcancel (Split Single Coil) Rear: Stacked type (Single Coil) Magnet: Alnico V Price: £450.00 (which is what I paid for it) The bass came without a gig bag or case and I don't have a spare cheap case so I guess this sale may be a pickup only. I am based in Horsham in West Sussex and willing to travel a reasonable distance to meet up if required. NB: Pics show Ernie Ball straplocks but the original straplocks will be refitted for the sale. Here's the pics: (taken outside on yet another very grey day unfortunately!)
 15.
Not underestimated by me, mine stopped my GAS in it's tracks. It hits the spot!
Good to know :0)
