Good luck with all that Rob! We had to wait over a month at work to get BT to install our phone lines... and we paid a premium for the "service" as business customers. I think the acronym stands for Bloody Terrible, or perhaps Ballsup Time
they have since told me it will be done this week, but i bet they come up with some excuse. if its not in by saturday im cancelling and going back to sky. ive read a lot of reports about them doing the same to other people, especially fridays. my gf and i between us have lost a day and a half of work, and will have to lose at least another half day to get it installed. if it goes on longer, im giving anne robinson a ring... im sure bt will be happy to appear on watchdog

im doing ok, just trying to sort out a new job, as well as fighting with BT to get them to show up and install my broadband, so i have no internet or phone line at home at the minute, which is another reason i wont be entering this
-
i should have a go at this.... but i just don't have the energy
Haha! Not the first time and certainly won't be the last either... Besides, who am I to take on the might of D.I.S.C.O.?! All is as it should be
i'll take the blame if we lose..
Only 30 votes so far, is this a poor turnout? Not even one for me though..... Ouch.
It's ok, ive only got any cos i did it with Skol
-
its a great bit of kit, only thing it misses for me is some basic vst instruments inside it, but its reliable and solid

Do older strings sound nicer than new ones?
RockfordStone replied to BetaFunk's topic in General Discussion
i like older strings as i don't like the brightness, however if they are on too long they do start to sound naff -
Wow, a lot of white flags already.. You mission, if you choose to accept it.....six minutes of media music. The way i see it..... treat it just as that, six minutes of media music, not twelve 30 second songs stitched together Load the Video/slide show, put in markers on your time line/bar lines for the picture change so you know where you are, and make one picture flow into the next..be it, a mood change, style change, key change or a variation on a theme[s] or whatever. Out of your comfort zone...maybe...out of this world...no!!.... You ain't gonna die.... Garry
you should have been here when it was a 13 minute video ;P, thats when the flags went up for me the actual composing wouldnt be so much of an issue, just the time requirements to do it
-
i think the video idea is cool, but i think an unrelated video of 5 minutes like something landscapey or spacey or something would be better than images we have already worked on previously. i like your thinking behind it rick, and the idea was clever.. but i can't help but feel id end up rehashing my old ideas a bit using the same photo's
-
i think i may have to bow out of this one, i don't think i have time to put into it, i like the idea of writing to a video, but 12/13 minutes requires a lot of thinking and work time
So we're doing a medley of Skol's winning tracks?
this

does logic run vst plug ins? there are some free guitar simulator ones, you just plug the guitar in and go
Which is why IMO you should concentrate on learning how to get the best out of the tools you already have, rather than expecting a software upgrade to magically make your recordings sound better. Think about all those awesome sounding 50s and 60s recordings that were done on very limited equipment. That was all down to people with great ears knowing exactly how to get what they had at their disposable to work for them.
this, don't upgrade to something just because. just because it is new doesn't make it better, ive read that a lot of top producers are still using protools 6 or 7 in terms of midi instruments, 3rd party are often the way to go, some of the bundled ones are a bit cheap. youd be better spending money on a good external instrument. also you mentioned you mix on headphones/laptop speakers... no point spending a lot of money on good sounding things until you have the monitoring equipment to back it up, a good output system can help you make sh*t plug ins sound good. but try to keep your head on this, get to grips with what you have so far before you throw money at it. you have only been doing it a while, don't try to run before you can walk

is this the touch screen job? i read a review on it, sounds like an awesome bit of kit
Hmm... should I release next months early now that it's ready... or to make you wait... I wonder... Thoughts? It will be much more work for you all
if it involved more work i'm not interested
