Brothers in Liverpool always say that about Manchester 😁

Genuine Neutriks at a decent price here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303145726020 I wouldn't trust Chinese copies with anything more than an amp or two 😝

I dont see the contradiction, both are true.

https://recording.org/comment/twice-loud-6db-or-10db As dB is a logarithmic scale, in order to add 10dB you need to increase the power delivered to a given speaker by a factor of 10. So the difference between 80dB and 160dB (going from the spl you might do a mix at, to louder than a bomb and instant deafness) is the difference between 1W and 10MW. Regardless of the class of amplifier. That's as relevant as the colour of the car you got here in. 😀

True enough, and that's assuming the 200, 300 and 500 are measured the same way. What one manufacturer calls 300 another might call 500, and out of two amps rated 500rms at a given distortion level, one might be able to sustain that for 100mS and the other for hours. Not sure where I'm going with this apart from "don't believe the hype", "get an SVT" and "1000 genuine watts are only twice as loud as 100 genuine watts"

Were you a slip of a yout like Bassadder you'd remember 🙂

Fair enough, and I've yet to be threatened with physical violence on *this* forum 😂

OP, being as he is a citizen of the Americas, might be more at home on Talkbass. Most of us here live on Pudding Island or in the land of millimetres and cheese. I don't mean you're not welcome, TJohn, just that you'll get more local knowledge there.

Thanks all. Im going to paint diluted pva onto the edges, and the various bits of filler. Bit more sanding today... I wish id done a build diary now, but at the start it looked like it was going to be an embarassing bodge. Amazing what filler can do (though there's still a bit of a shortage of right angles)

I bought the Tuffcab. And the rollers. Fast servive from BlueAran. Thanks for the recommendation. Any top tips before i slap it on all over? I'm reasonably confident it'll sound ok, ive built a few cabs but never done more than a bit of blackboard paint. I should put an extra coat on the plywood edges as they're more porous, thanks Alien.

I had one. It was beautiful. It weighed more than my house though.

Came up "this video is private" with that link

I had a better idea - I don't anticipate playing any cafés any time soon, so I'm putting the Beta 10 on ebay and making a box to put a Beyma CM10 in. Not such a high thermal rating, but over twice the Xmax means it can take 125W all the way down, and with a HPF looking after below-resonance excursions still does 107dB at 50Hz.

"digital" is such an abused word it just slides past me now. I have a pair of headphones branded "digital". I heard that WC Boggs had trouble deciding whether to brand their new crapper "digital" or "quantum" -
Thanks Bill. I might go ahead and use it for practice/café and try adding a 3015LF crossing over above 150Hz for use when drummers are involved.

Possible threadjack - im jumping in here as Phil and Bill are in the room. I have a beta 10 that I'd like to put in a 30-ish litre cab. Thing is, though, xmax is only 3mm and winisd shows a huge dip in max power between resonance and 150Hz. However, xlim is ok so im thinking maybe itll just sound dirty (possibly in a good way) being driven beyond xmax but obviously not exceeding xlim. Or should i just stick it on ebay and buy a Fane Sovereign 8? Cheers

Top tip that, thanks! Most of Live at Leeds is picked, John Entwistle never got called an rusty bullethole (nor did Pablo Picasso). Edit: An rusty bullethole? What the actual feck is an rusty bullethole? Surely *a* rusty bullethole. Theyll be saying "an diamond" next.
