1. Hello everyone, Bit of a random one really, but I’m sure it’s something that many of us on here may have experienced. I’ve been playing bass since I was about 12/13 years old (I studied Bass at ACM from 17), to be honest it was the only thing that was ever in my peripheral vision in terms of hobby and career hopes. I’m now 30 and would really like to start playing again, but I’m lacking the passion, confidence and where to start from. If anyone’s been through the same thing, I’d love to hear from you! Any help or advice would me much appreciated 🙏 Many thanks in advance, Laurence
 2.
Aha, looks like they're both the longer bridge size then. Cheers
Hi ikay, I'm not too sure actually, I'd have to measure & check for you. I feel like Tom's probably right though.
 3.
I love this bass! I don't know if you'd be interested in a trade? I have a g and L m2000 on here, otherwise I will try to sell it first
Unfortunately I'm not after a trade, unless it's a Rob Allen Deep 5 or a Wal Pro2e!
 4. SOLD!! Hello folks, Here's my G&L JB-2 Tribute (Indonesia) that I unfortunately have to move on as it's not being used as much as I'd like to! It weighs 8.56lbs/3.88kg and has an extremely fast & playable neck. I've had it for six years and it's been one of my main gigging basses. It's in used but good condition. It has a small ding on the back of the body (please see pictures below). Neck: Hard-Rock Maple, Maple fingerboard, bolt on, Medium C profile, 21 frets Body: Swamp Ash with three tone sunburst finish Pickups: Two G&L Alnico single-coil pickups Neck: Hard-Rock Maple, Maple fingerboard, bolt on, Medium C profile, 21 frets Body: Swamp Ash with three tone sunburst finish Pickups: Two G&L Alnico single-coil pickups If anyone would like to arrange to try before they buy that's fine, I'm based in south London. Collection preferred but open to delivery (at buyers expense). Kind regards, Laurence
 5.
El Ten Eleven are my fav no guitar band
Brilliant band! One of my all round favourites too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fD2xS91Mi84
 6.
In my opinion for such high priced instrument, to have close to no customer service is a big shame... don't get me wrong... i have two anyways... they are awesome, but given the communication, if one day they have something wrong with them... I probably won't go to Wal to get them fixed.... wich is a shame..
I wouldn't say he has close to no customer service at all, he's just completely swamped in building basses so has barely anytime on his hands for anything else! I was there in November to pick up my new MK1 and Paul runs the whole operation on his own except for a couple of part-time workers....you've certainly got to give him credit for taking on Wal on his own. The prices have just gone up again as well to £3650.....that's £450 in 2 years. Plus the waiting time used to be 12 months, now it's 19 months
 7.
Pick it up already!
Got it yesterday at about 7pm, absolutely stunning! The workshop looks incredible at the moment, all of the basses are looking spectacular! Paul is an absolutely great bloke and the work he's doing in there as nothing but amazing.
NBD?? Did you bother going to work today or did you get your priorities right and stay at home to play? I bet you're not even going to be on BC for the next few days.. Hope you enjoy the new bass..
I got my priorities right and stayed at home! Still need BC though haha! The bass has the most amazing neck, the best Wal neck that I've played by far...... The fingerboard grain is inexplicable, only seeing it can some up how incredible it is. Thanks mate!
 8.
i will upload this afternoon a side picture of the side dot markers below some more pictures... fred
Absolutely stunning looking bass by the way! I saw one of Paul's recent Padauk faced Wals and it looked fantastic, might have to get another with those facings me thinks.......
 9.
If you think that fretboard is made out of rosewood, you cleary don't no your wood. We have a saying in the region where I live, si sente squillare il campanello, ma non so dove il batacchio si blocca.
Wal use a huge range of woods, and don't forget that wood cuts are all completely different even if they're the same species, let alone tree!
My wal has an indian rosewood fingerboad... with very few figuring in it... Looks very dark too... just like that one... as there is about a billion sort of wood within the familly of rosewood.. And the backplate says indian rosewood too... are you implying that wal made a mistake on two basses, and put rosewood on TWO back plate when it was ebony? very hard to say from pictures anyways.... No need for that kinda post on a seller's thread to me....
+1!
 10. Hey all, I ordered my Wal just under 13 months ago, and here it is: It's a lined fretless MK I with a custom neck (39.7mm nut width and a C neck shape), it has side dots and fret dots that are both made of Mother of Pearl. Body: Brazilian Mahogany core with American Walnut facings (and the thin Canadian Rock Maple veneer). Neck: Canadian Rock Maple with Brazilian Mahogany strips and an African Macassar Ebony fingerboard.
 11. Are you sure the side dot markers are unique? My Wal has it (it is a 2011 one though.... and I believe Mick Karn's Tulipwood facing Wal has it as well. Laurence
 12. So.......it's been finished! It's having a few tweaks and adjustments made to it and I'm picking it up next week around Wednesday! I'm so glad I waited for my very own custom Wal instead of buying one of the old models or customs! I'll tell you all how it plays and sounds when I pick it up!
 13.
Is it done yet?! I'm sure everytime I see you it's only 2 weeks away!
Only 5 days now! Just emailed Paul Herman for some more pics, so keep checking!
 14.
Is that a MK I with an extended top horn (as in the MK II). Bet you have no finger nails left. Never played a Wal but would love to sometime.
It's just a standard MK I body, it needs a bit more work on the body before it's finished so that might be why it looks like it has an extended horn.
Well I don't know about anyone else, but I'm jealous
Haha!
Looks lovely, I am so green (but in a nice way!) you can see the care that these are built with. I look forward to the Day I can place my order with Paul .....I just dont know when that day might come though! I bet you are so excited - nice feeling I bet!
I know what you mean! When that day comes though, I promise it'll be worth it! Whenever the next bass bash down south is, I'll try and come along and I'll bring this!
