I love the look of these.
Did anyone else think they were Jean-Michel Jarre signature instruments at first?

Ibanez SR 5ers are easy to play and a great way to go IMO. If you're into the Warwick growl you'll get a similar vibe from the wenge (or panga panga) necked, Nordstrand big single equipped premium series.

My Geddy inspired matte black Sandberg California TT passive.
As far as I know, the only one in this finish.
Commissioned by @ead of this parish then I liberated it from eBay.

This is a great resource for all things Ibanez, it's definitely an SR800. The finish dates it to 2016-2017.

I love the aesthetic of this bass. I wonder how similar the electronics are to the other 18v fender offerings though.

Well I'm back in the Sandberg Gang and I'm loving it.
I've recently had a cull of all basses over 9 1/2 lbs due to back/hip issues and was looking for something that would do lots of different sounds and was light enough for me to gig with comfortably.
After spotting this at Bass Direct I went up to try it and took it home. It's a California II VT in an aged Gold finish with ebony board and blocks. It sounds amazing with the Delanos and the switching between active and passive has really no discernible change in overall volume. The slightly smaller newer body which I at first wasn't sure about is super comfortable and the overall weight is 8lbs 2oz. I'm really very pleased with it.
This is lovely.

Anyone know where to get new pickguards for Sandberg's?
I'm looking to get a tort one. The Sandberg shop has them but they won't ship to the UK. I've asked a couple of shops and they have said with customs they become very expensive and take a long time and advised getting one made instead.
WD music is usually a good shout for custom pickguards.

Speed music in Cardiff had an Overwater original (T-bird kinda shape) for £500 in the early 2000's. Really wish I'd bought that.

To resurrect this thread. I'd be game if it happens.

Hi Joel,
Lovely looking bass, The SRX 750 is a 2008 only model, I think it's basically the same as the SRX700 series but with the nice figured wood top.
While there aren't many around, and prices are notoriously difficult to quantify, I wouldn't imagine it would go for more than £500.

These look great for the money, well, for any money. Especially up against that Fender rig.

I much prefer the newer shapes, to me they strike the perfect balance of looking like a traditional J/P but with enough of their own vibe to be more interesting than just a straight copy.
I'd agree with this too. They feel much smaller and more comfortable than Fenders, but without looking a million miles away.

This is a ridiculous bargain.

Wow that's some colour

That looks great to me.
As long as she's big enough to play a 34" bass and likes the aesthetic it'll be a great beginner instrument.

Another vote for cool.
There's something about a P/J with a pointy headstock. Kramer forum, ESP Horizon, whatever the Jackson/Charvel ones were called. All chefs kiss classics.
