  1. I got a second hand TT4 passive recently. I've had Jazzes and Jazz adjacents before and always moved them on for one reason or another. I was looking for a J type equivalent to my Maruszsczyk Jake.

This is easily the best example of a Jazz I've ever had. The body shape is much more ergonomic without looking out of proportion like the Lakland DJ, the balance is impeccable.

Mine has the black label pickups which I really like, they have all the attitude in the world if you play them hard but mellow out nicely when played softly.

Fit and finish seem basically perfect. I really like the flatter profile fingerboard. It feels really solid too, also the quality of the in house hardware is amazing. The machine heads feel incredibly smooth.

Long story short, I think it's a keeper.

That looks like my old one.  I traded for a Sandberg TT4 TSBS as I like the battered look.  It has the Black Label p/ups that are rather nice too.

Interesting! Do you remember who you traded it to? This one has a 2020 serial number and I bought it off a guy called Mark in Nuneaton.

  3. Hey everyone,

I got my first Sandberg yesterday, I'd been looking for a passive jazz with a flattish finger board radius and this came up on eBay. It's a California TT passive in matt black with blocks and an off white scratch plate, actual matt black rather than the black stained natural on the configurator.

After a moment of thinking the bridge pickup was broken, I turned all the controls right up, not realising that they were vol, blend, tone, I'm blown away by how good it is. It feels incredibly well put together and has the burp and clang that I wanted from a Jazz type instrument. Also it's much more comfortable than the traditional Jazz shape.

  4. After what felt like the longest 3 weeks of my life, my BTB605MS arrived on Monday. It's my first multi scale and a bit of a departure from what I usually look for in a bass but my god it's good.

The electronics package is amazing, passive mode is identical to preamp flat. My favourite setting so far is low mids slightly boosted and bridge pickup slightly favoured. The overall tone is super clear and punchy. It's super resonant unplugged too.

Multi scale feels really intuitive, it took next to no getting used to. The 35-37 scale is big, scales around the 3rd fret D are quite a stretch but I'm sure I'll adapt, also it makes the B string enormous.
